My Demonic Little Demons by DallOner

[raw]
made by DallOner for Ludum Dare 55 (JAM)

I strongly recommend playing it on itch. here

Have you ever wanted to summon your demon to pamper, and corrupt the souls of the people around you? Well, you're in luck, in My Demonic Little Demons, you can resolve the seal and summon curious friends :D

mdld-cover.png

For this entry we only have 5 seals for you and the wonderful Cthulhu, the mechanics are quite simple, just touch/click the piece you want to move and complete the stamps according to the reference.

Every time you complete a seal you can summon an entity! TMDLDBgGameplaywithCandles.png

The game does not have an ending or farewell message, play it until you get tired of summoning entities (or not, let yourself be carried away by the corruption).

I am sliding-puzzle-challenged, but I gave this a shot because the screenshots intrigued me!

Technical feedback - not sure if I just didn't make it far enough into the game, but there were some weird green squares on the embedded itch.io web version:

I wasn't able to make it past the 2rd level, but rather than thinking of it as a "skill issue", I'm choosing to believe that I've been "carried away by the corruption" ;)

Good job!

@andrewkennedy Thank you for playing! Yeh the issue idk why but is a loading image problem. The worst thing is that locally it works 100%... tomorrow I will check carefully if there is any way to solve this problem.

My guess is that it was supposed to be a candle?

@andrewkennedy Yup, they are candles... so that's what it's supposed to look like.

Alright, my day job is troubleshooting technical issues and I can't turn that part of my brain off.

I tried downloading the game and running it locally - got a ton of errors. Example:
```
Cross-Origin Request Blocked: The Same Origin Policy disallows reading the remote resource at file:///C:/Users/andrew/Downloads/mdld/asset/audio/Victory.wav. (Reason: CORS request not http)
```

Not sure what engine/platform you're building on, but maybe it's a CORS issue with embedded content itch.io? I'm running Firefox 124.0.2 on Windows 11 if that helps you at all. I tried Edge, but got the same error.

(I'm a web noob, so maybe this is not helpful info :grimacing: )

Thanks any info helps! This at least tells me that I should export the sfx in additional formats to avoid problems in other browsers. I am using Phaser 3.80.1. But tomorrow I will see how to solve it, I will go to rest. Thanks again for playing and the report <3

These puzzles are very hard but I can tell you put a lot of heart and soul into this game. Art is great, the glass sound is subtle enough to not get annoying after a while, and programmatically it is very sound. Great job on completing something you're proud of, and thank you for sharing it with us o7

Art style is cool. Its cute take on the traditional slider puzzles. Personally I suck at these puzzles and don't have the patience for them but its a well crafted and executed idea.

I love these kinda sliding puzzles (even if I'm bad at them lol) so this was a really fun game for me to play! Puzzles are challenging, but don't feel entirely impossible. Love the little Cthulhu's and artstyle!

Very nice! I used to play sliding puzzles in school so that triggered some memories :D
The only thing I would change is the visualization of the missing tile. I found it a bit hard to distinguish it so it interrupted the flow a few times.

Used to love these slidey puzzles as a kid and this was good fun! The graphics are cute and the vibe with the background music created a nice mood. The feedback when sliding pieces was nice although a little bit of random pitch variation to the sound would have been an easy way to make it slightly less repetitive. Really nicely polished and looks very put together!

I feel like it would have been nice to be able to do something with my summon, even if it was just if it did a lil squidge when you clicked it or something. A little reward for completing the puzzle! Although I understand the time constraint is always a struggle!

Overall, a very complete looking game with a nice atmosphere. Bonus points for the lil kitty!

The only thing I would improve about this game is making the tiles distinct from the background in some way, it was a little difficult to find the empty space sometimes!
Overall though I love me a good slide puzzle :) Good entry
