CYCLE by Dianouille

[raw]
made by Dianouille for LD33 (JAM)
CYCLE is a game where you play as a garden gnome who controls the four elements. Your goal is to build your own garden by placing different elements on your canvas and finding the different combinations in order to create many more elements ! Beware of your old selves, because each time you restart, your old timelines repeat their own path ! And they may destroy what you created...Be strategic ;)

Instructions :

JOUER = PLAY
You have to keep pressing the arrows OR the mouse to release the elements smoothly. And then you choose the direction you want to go.
Notes : Restart button doesn't restart the game, but add a new time line. So when you finish your first time line, try it !

If you can, try the PC version, the sound is awesome, but the web version doesn't honor it.

This game was developed by the Garden gnomes (because gardening isn't our only skill) !
Nicolas Schoner & Vincent Adam coded like beasts, Gabriel Dalmasso did an awesome sound design, and Marie-Astrid Molina & Amélie Perret (Dianouille) created super cute designs !

This is beautiful. And there's a game behind it.
Does it have anything to do with the Theme?

Very interesting. Love the idea and graphics though it took a little bit to understand exactly what I was doing.

That was really cool, even though all the instructions are in french, the concept was easy to grasp and fun to play. Really good job

The game is beautiful and very interesting. Unfortunately, I see almost no tie-in with the theme :( Regardless, good work with this!

Really cool and innovative and I loved the graphics! I just wish it had more to do with the theme...

By achieving our game, we realized that we were getting off topic. Our game has a certain duality in terms of monsters. We can be both a designer or a destructor (a monster), depending on how we play. Furthermore, the timelines can come to destroy what we have created earlier. We are responsible for the annihilation of our own world. And so, we are the monster, the ennemy of our own creation. We add some duality of what is really the monster in the game.

Very smart game! Not even close to the theme, but, who cares :D

Nice title. There are some philosophical thoughts' processes needed to tie it with the theme. Would have been nice if it was in English though. Quite hard to understand how it works, it needs time and some care

The concept is definitely fresh! Now as it doesn't really respect the theme, it's hard to judge the game relative to the event itself. I'd say it's quite relaxing and experimental. Good job!

Beautifully designed. More of an activity than a game, per se. But still, very engaging, which I suppose is more important.

Drôle de concept mais intéressant, ça m'a rappelé le "jeu de la vie"...

Very nice concept of letting elements interact, tiles seemed to change at random sometimes. The web version lags quite a bit when zoomed out at the end. Still the idea of having the same canvas each iteration is super cool :)

Interesting game, and very pretty! I don't really see the link with the theme though, but it's a jam entry so it's not too important. It would have been interesting to have a list of the elements we have discovered as we discover theme.

- doesn't seem related to the theme
- graphics look good and i like the concept
- i have no clue what I'm doing or what the goal is
- i don't know why fire is necessary to make a garden
- would be more interesting if the garden just grew and evolved while I was playing instead of showing that part at the end where everything is growing.
