Robo Climb by zubspace
A game about a robot climbing a mountain. Something is calling him up there. A summon to the summit, so to speak. Will you make it to the top?
Warning: This game can easily provoke a mental meltdown. On one hand, climbing requires a lot of skill. On the other hand, the physics engine does not exactly correspond to reality. In return, if you overcome the challenges, you will definitely experience an all-time-high! If you know games like "Getting over it" or "A difficult game about climbing", you know what I mean...
All challenges are possible to overcome with some determination. If you're stuck, visit the spoilers further down.
Here’s a gif for your pleasure:

How to play:
Requires a mouse with 2 buttons.
Left button grabs ledges with the left hand. Right button grabs ledges with the right hand.
You can nudge the robot slightly left and right by moving the mouse left and right. You can do the same up and down, if both hands are grabbing something.
You can only hold onto black ledges and sign posts and the robot can move through them. You cannot hold onto walls directly.
Follow the signs and don't give up.
Features:
- Hard but rewarding gameplay.
- Dynamic music and environmental sounds.
- A ton of self-made sound effects.
Tech
- Godot 4.2.1 with GD Script
- Affinity Designer
- Krita
- Paint.NET
- Audacity
- FL Studio (with Pigments synth)

Some tips if you're stuck:
- A hand will move into the direction of the mouse if you don't press its button.
- The left and right hand are slightly different if you compare their thumb position. Check first, before you release a hand of a ledge.
- If you're stuck on the ground, you first need to lift the robot up. Stretch your arms as far as you can and try to get hold of a ledge. Move your mouse left and right while doing so.
- If you press the mouse button but the hand cannot grab a ledge, the hand will slowly move down until it grabs a ledge. If this ain't possible, stop pressing the mouse button, otherwise the hand will drag you down.
- If both arms are stretched and both hands are holding a ledge, you can swing the robot vertically by moving your mouse up and down. Repeat this process to swing up even higher. This is useful to lift the robot up from the ground or to jump into the air.
- If only one arm is holding a ledge, you can only swing left or right by moving your mouse, up and down not so much.
- If there is a vertical passage to hold onto, you can slowly climb it by alternating between left and right button clicks very fast.

Also.. the description on the game page seems to be for a completely different game about mages.
@lyamgtt Thank you! There are other games in this genre, which were very popular on twitch. But maybe it's the first one with robot spaghetti arms!
@flying-dog-fish Well done, getting up to the upper passage! I also get confused about which hand is which button, but in some way it also increases the feeling of danger I enjoy. And thanks for pointing out the wrong description on the page, fixed! (I was lazy and just copied the description from the last game and completely forgot to change it...)
@cosmo8 Thank you! About the theme: There are signs on the course which "summon" you to the top of the mountain. I thought, that 90% of the games make a necromancer style game and I wanted to do something a bit different.
Tip for new players: Spaghetti arms are like slingshots?
Nice game. Cave is not the happiest environment to undertake this struggle though. Too claustrophobic imo Dx
@benjaminw Oh, absolutely! But don't despair! The cave is just a brief pit stop on our journey. Eventually you will get out and feel that crisp alpine air on your tin-can face again. It's all part of the adventure, right? Just think, once you reach the top, ye can look down on this miserable existence and laugh! You might be made of tin, but your spirit is unbreakable!
Oh I love this, specially the feeling of desperately clawing a wall after falling down haha. I am nowhere near good enough at these type of games to make it far, but I would love to watch a video of someone who is showing how it's done by a pro
Great job overall!
Ps, the ending was glorious, great build up with the faulty ram. Poor robot is Sisyphus; without even knowing it. Amnesia-Sisyphus! xD
But well, that's why I come back each Ludum Dare to improve  And hopefully one day I strike the perfect balance. So I'm happy you gave me the idea for the video and I'm sure many here will enjoy that more than playing the game and I'm absolutely ok with that! Good luck and have fun
Pretty interesting movement, of course, reminding me of Getting Over It and such games. Well done!

@coatline I love Godot, but its physic engine is so unstable, I can't imagine anyone using it for a real game. In my game an arm consists of 5 or so Rigidbodies connected through PinJoints, and even if you reduce the softness to 0, which schould make them completely stiff, they can bend like crazy. I think this is happens more, if the mass difference between connected bodies increases, but the arm parts needed to be lighter than the torso, so I had to live with it. :imp:
I think you can integrate the Jolt physic engine in Godot 4 and I probably need to give it a try next time.
Anyway, thanks for trying. You made it quite far inspite all of the bugs
Keep up the good work!
the game was really hard! I couldn't believe how difficult it was to lose your momentum the moment your body hits a wall or your hand graces a sign... xD Once I learned how to fly, however, the game became much easier to make it to the top. it was like stretching a rubber band!
@braktheman Thanks for playing! Yeah, it's a lot to ask to learn all the control intricacies in a short time. I need to remind myself to make an easy game next time :)
@commanderstitch Wow! Good job! You are probably the first one who made it and that makes me so happy! Yeah, flying a robot through the air is fun I think. Thanks for putting the time in and for posting the screenshot
