Play Demon Doodles

Be you a witch, warlock, or a kid with a dark grimoire you found in your grandma's basement, you and your apprentice are summoning demons! Do your best to draw the ancient runes shown on the pages to create your summoning circles but be warned, failure results in some... nutty consequences.

How to Summon a Demon

Step 1:

Take your apprentice to a clearing with your book of circles.

Step 2:

Use your mouse to draw the circles into the ground before the time runs out.

Step 3:

Enjoy your new demon!

great game! it reminds me of the drawing spellcasting minigame on the ancient harry potter games i used to play as a kid. i love the art too. especially the demon kitty with the kinfe !!! very cute designs

Cute! The difficulty was paced very well. Loved the addition of Chrome (very accurate). Art is great and adds a lot of charm. Great first entry! Very excited to see what you make in the future :smiley:

Nice and cute art so far. Not quite sure how the percentage works, since I got the same percentage of one with unfinished drawing and the finished one, and only the completed one worked well. would be nicer if you change the sound effect of wrong summoning. Keep it up!

@niighty-nine There are different audio ques for successful summons and failed summons. If you get a squirrel, you failed that attempt! Your % goes up for painting in the lines and goes down for painting outside of the lines.

Thanks for the web build! The game is simple and cute. I like it. But it's too small: I wish there were more creatures to summon and I also would like rune correctness checking to be more accurate.

I really like this game mechanic; I could see it as part of a full game. The graphics are very good and it's humorous too. I had to laugh when the guy with the tie appeare

Love the art style on this, definitely a fun time!! Game could have benefited from something that would mix it up (give you more time, etc) but I am really impressed by the quality of the animations on it, and how many you have, well done!

Wow amazing art! Though I tried many times but failed to summon the higher class demon haha~ Doodling with mouse is not that easy for me. Someday I'll try again with tablet.

I struggle on those final circles too and I do digital art! A hint is to focus on the big circles and not so much on the dots. You lose % by coloring outside of the lines but the overall % favors the drawings found within the lines. Let me know if you try again!

Great game. Definitely very tricky to play with the mouse, but I cheated and pulled out my drawing tablet after a squirrel summon.

How does the score get calculated? Do you compare how many pixels matched with the rune?

@gord10ahmet Hey, glad you enjoyed it! Yes the drawing comparison is a pixel-by-pixel comparison to the rune (specifically intersection-over-union score) but we also boost the "intersection" pixels so you're rewarded more for drawing in the lines vs punished for drawing out of the lines :)

Best one I played, managed to beat it (using a tablet) - but it just said I won and didn't seem to summon anything (unless summoning everyone at once for the "you win" screen *is* the summon for that round)

The last one was the only one I had to attempt more than once, I cannot imagine how frustrating it must be to play with a mouse, hahaha!

This was so fun!!! It was really hard at first and I wasn't sure how I was getting scored, but by the end I really got the hang of it. I loved the art style and my husband and I were cheering each other on about the strategy for getting the highest score. Great job!

A nice symbol drawing game! The doodles are cute and funny. One bit of feedback: At the end you went for very complicated symbols, and while it is funny to throw the player off with a symbol like that, I think it's more fun for the player if they actually get a challenge they can complete. How complicated the symbol was and how much time you got for it often didn't seem to match. That said, I did enjoy it! And the music was nice as well.

Loved this game, it's so addictive! Wish there was more. I even replayed it just because somehow this simple concept of drawing something and trying to get it as accurate as possible while under serious time pressure is really fun for me.

The artwork kept me motivated to try my best to get through all the levels! The timer did make some of those levels pretty challenging... I almost felt like trying to hook up my tablet to see if I could do any better with that, but I rarely use it so I doubt it :grin:

Definitely getting some Pendleton Ward vibes from some of those designs, love it! I do feel like having more time and then a submit button if you finish early would be nice, I got through a lot of those where it felt like I didn't cover any of the details before the timer ran out :sweat_smile:

Had a good laugh when I summoned Dave though, probably the highlight of my night!

Short and sweet, engaging to play and like everyone else says, nice art. As some feedback, i would say i found the canvas a little too small- though that could be my poor mouse control more than anything.

I played with a drawing tablet, it was still very challenging to complete the drawings. Summoned a bunch of squirrels though! I would suggest having a way to get more time. Like the pretty pictures. Nice Entry!

This was fun! I got 100% on level 2, and I wasn't quite sure I deserved it, so then I spent a while trying to work out if I could exploit the scoring system, but it didn't work :joy:

The artwork is really nice, and the game feel is very good, I think the only addition I'd really like is a button to start the game, because I didn't realise I was playing the second the game loaded. Great job with this one!

The illustrations are very interesting and the gameplay is fun, it kind of reminds me of Gartic in some way. That Dave summon was really unexpected as well :laughing: Very cool.

@joeshanahan Aww thanks for including us in a playthrough video! So for a bit more insight into the "scoring" anything inside the lines is like 1.5x points, and anything outside is -1 points, so drawings with a lot of area to color in (like the moon) are much easier to hit 100+% score :)
