Chefs from the Dead by Linky439
Have you ever experience cooking in a high-pressure environment? Well, it is time for you to try it out, as Chefs from the Dead challenges you to cook as many dishes as possible in a minute!

What's that? You can't live up to those expectations? Don't worry, for you have your trusty cooking cards in hand! Use them to summon a renowned CHEF who will cook for you!
Make sure to keep an eye on the top of the screen, as you will see what dish needs to be cooked, and who is eventually already doing the job! For each meal cooked, you gain an extra amount of time to stay alive juuuuust a little bit longer. Each chef also has a favorite and a least favorite meal, so pick wisely in your hand!

Controls - Use the mouse for everything! - Click the left mouse button to interact with the game!
Now, how many dishes can you cook?
Disclaimer: this was the first time Mad and I worked together on a game, we discovered the whole libGDX librairy on the fly so the game isn't as completed as we initially hoped! (I am also currently pulling my hair trying to get an exe file to work without any issue! The jar is fine though.)
But we had fun doing this anyway, hope you will enjoy it too!

The chef you are mentionning is not supposed to be slower on the hamburger, but we'll check. Thanks for the heads-up!
It's a very funny idea and I understood the concept pretty fast. My only issue with the game itself is the randomness of the chefs you get and the food you are required to make. Happened to me twice that I had to make four burgers in a row but only got the Pigs, who dislike cooking them. But keep up the work. Always nice to see poeple coding the game more or less directly in a programming language :)
Ohhh... and my best score was 10!
We agree that more cards and more foods would have been better, but we lacked time to do so. We are definitively planning to add some more content to the game in the future though! :)
The balacing probably has issues as well, we are noting down all your feedbacks!
Sorry for the "no java" error, I must admit we tried to make an executable in the very last hour so it probably isn't perfect (but a great way to learn!). Overall this jam was a way for us to try our hand at coding a game in Java to keep on learning it and discover how to handle many things :)
@archaeognathus Best score of 10, congrats! I think my highest score was 7 or 8, so you are probably the world leader at Chefs from the Dead! :D
are you planning a build for other platforms?
I like the art style and the music adds some nice energy.
Overall, good work!
It's just a hypothesis on my part, but I think the reason some of the players found it unintuitive at first is that by default the game window is not very big, and the icons and symbols are pretty small. That may make them harder to notice at first. I often magnify my browser view for my old-man-eyes, which made me think. Anyway, great game! :D
Nice art :)
But nonetheless it's a good entry and I really like the reference in this one.
Good job !
@garywiss Thank you! Yep, 2 cards is a bit limited but with only 3 chefs and 3 meals, it seemed to be the best balance we could achieve. We do plan on expanding it with more diversity ;)
Gameplay wise, it seems a bit limited currently with only 2 oven and 2 cards at a time, and they take the first 2 dishes of the list as well. I often ended up with 2 same cards and the 2 dishes on the list were the weakness of the chief to appear  . So I feel like we don't have much choices.
I think it would have been nice to be able to discard some dishes or to re-order them. On my first run, I thought the chief would automatically take the dish he is best at among the 4 displayed, haha.
Overall, good job on this entry ! :tada:
Thanks for the feedback!
I didn't get much luck with Pig Pastry chef, he seemed to be a bit rare (or I really just wasn't lucky as it's probably randomized!)
I tried my best, but I suppose it ain't that easy!

The idea is cool imo, mechanic is simple but well thought-out, with different strength & weaknesses. Animation is also simple, but effective. I had fun, thanks! x3
The idea is really cool, the gameplay is simple but the idea is there and it works.
I had trouble getting high scores, on a few games I was mostly between 4 and 6 points.
The game lacks a bit of polish/feedback to be as strong as your previous ones and we probably lack a bit of control over the game to optimize the score a bit.
A bit more variety would have been nice too.
But in any case, great job being able to do that, it's not that easy with libgdx, well done ;)
PS: There are some integration issues on the web version, you can see the scrollbars and it's missing a full screen button if possible.
