Great work on the visuals!
I would have loved if there was a marker that would show where you're going to end up when you dash!
I think the arrow guys shouldn't hurt me just by touching. It would be also cool to be able to break arrows by dashing through them.
I found the difficulty jump was a bit sudden on the second level, you could let the player get 1 or 2 more upgrades before that (or make it a bit easier with the above suggestions).
Being hurt could give a bit more feedback like some audio, screen shake.
Maybe adding some invicibility frames where you can't be hurt twice in a short time (or making this longer if it is already in there) would make it feel a bit more fair.
Being able to kill the summoners accidently could be funny.
Overall a solid entry!
Agree with the other commenters that it would be good to make taking damage more visible and have a brief moment of invincibility to avoid dying super quick
If there was anything to critic it would be having some invincibility frames as @lexi89 and @unless-games mentioned. I notice that I primarily die when I am getting swarmed and unable to get some breathing room to reevaluate the situation. You could also consider hitstops if an enemy manages to damage you if want the player to have a quick pause to strategize.
Again, amazing entry! I'm so happy I ran into this!
I found that running isn't very helpful, even made the game harder for me. I think it is easier to just stand in place and "move" using dash. With that I was able to, quickly and without a problem, finish the game. My upgrades were: heart, pepper and heart again, but it looks like it doesn't work twice (would be nice to have that mentioned somewhere). I wish there could be more levels with more enemies incoming and being able to buff myself even more, but I couldn't press anything on the end game screen.
I didn't expect "going home" for the first time so it was a surprise. The way you get upgrades by cooking and take care of the child by swinging it, was funny.
Overall a very enjoyable game :smiling_imp:
