Summoned by Cshep99

[raw]
made by Cshep99 for Ludum Dare 55 (JAM)

I didn't get to polish it because i felt sick and decided to sleep a lot. but... here it is!

sorry no music or sound i was too busy coding like my life depended on it.

(lol i forgot to code in a win state. oh well.) (lol again, for some reason the enemies don't disappear when they die)

sorry, WINDOWS ONLY. i dont have a mac to export with

EDIT: OMG IM AN ABSOLUTE IDIOT! i forgot i was using 64-bit blender! the game is 64-bit! im sorry if anyone couldn't play it! im including a 32-bit version now.

EDIT: AHHHHH I ACCIDENTALLY DELETED THE GAME!!!! T﹏T im trying to reupload it but it wont go! im going to try putting it on itch.io. i can at least add a link to it here...

EDIT: the game is now on itch.io and i have included a 32-bit version. T﹏T

my game idea: The Demon Lord™ is battling The Hero™ and needs reinforcements! But you're just a low-level monster! You can't beat The Hero™! Don't allow yourself to be summoned!

controls: - arrow keys to move around - z to pick up / throw a dizzy enemy - x to punch an enemy - c to jump

EDIT: as @Willby pointed out, here are instructions for where the exe is for fellow blender users:

after extraction, the exe is in the folder marked "run time", the game is labeled "summoned.exe". technically the source code and all the models are in the blend file in the root directory since i made the whole thing in blender.

The whole game was just different shades of purple. Not sure if you put some files in the wrong directory. But I do like skelly-bone people.

he basic idea is very funny. Too bad you didn't manage to finish it, I would have been curious. Get well

I adored the graphics, I wished the game could've challenged me more because it seemed like I had a reasonable toolset to work with. I saw in your desc that you didn't have time to make music/sfx and I would love to see a post jam version with sound! Thanks for a great entry!

It is a very unusual and atmospheric game, the visual is quite interesting, it looks stylish and funny! Good luck with your project, I would have played it more than once!!!

I use blender frequently and I was not expecting to see anyone to use the game engine part of it so well done to you!!! I think you should put a bit of text somewhere saying where the actual game exe is because I totally opened the blender file first hehe.
I love the style and look to everything and it was quite interesting to watch the skeletons move around. I found the easiest thing to do was to just stand in the corner of the room and wait for the skeletons to summon themselves.
Very interesting entry!!

@cshep99 Your graphics and game play is extremely good. Very Smooth. I would change the punching to a shooting type game. There is a JAM coming up on itch.io about lots of bullets. You could take this game as a base and try that.

I love the interpretation of the theme ! I wasn't able to finish the game though, it crashed before I died :( (maybe I'm just too good at it lul)

The graphics are very good, the gameplay is still nice for the short period of the contest, you have achieved a lot, my respect, you have talent

I really liked the game! The graphics made me nostalgic for some older games, and the gameplay reminded me as weird as it sounds a little bit of super smash bros, even though a lot is different. This game has a battle royale feel to it too which I think you should lean into more, maybe in the future add pick-ups or something and find a way of creating summoning portals that can capture a more expansive terrain. I might be missing something, but the late game loses the more action-packed pace of the start since a lot of enemies' huddle around the edges of the map where there are fewer portals and it hard to catch them, since they don't lose their summoning level fast enough. Besides that, I think this game is awesome!

Fun little game, for sure gets a +1 for using such a unique game engine. Got down to around 3 enemies left before the game froze and crashed. The enemies are absolutely brutal killing machines, practically terminators. Felt like I could be pushed in with no effort.

The problem with using Blender for a game engine is you need that version of Blender installed. Would have liked to play this one.

@lancejz oh actually you don't! the game isn't the blend file that's just the source code, it's in the folder! its named "summoned.exe" i tested it on a computer that didn't have blender and it ran just fine!

Incredible what people are able to do in their tool if they master it.
Game is a bit bare BONES (hehe) but still all things considered pretty polished.
Good Job!

Really love the idea! Brawled through my way of a lot of skeletons and there were only a few left, but unfortunately the game ended up crashing. It's a really smart and fun way of matching the "summoning" theme, would be funny to play it with other people in a battle royal.

This was actually kinda fun with the randomness of the AI. The "combat" felt a little clunky, a larger hitbox might help with the consistency of your moves. I liked the skeletons and animations, but overall the visuals felt a bit inconsistent.

A very nice game, the textures are amazing for 3days timeline and the fact that you did them alone, verry good job, I would love to see the game being finished, keep it up m8!
