Description
The forest is swallowed by endless darkness, and you are a swarm of tiny fireflies.
Each of you are weak and lost in the forest. But your death can light up the path of other fireflies, and together, even tiny fireflies can illuminate the entire forest and beat the darkness (and frogs)!
Guide
How to Fly
- [A]/[D] to steer. Your firefly flies forward automatically
- [S] to slow down, but only for a limited amount of time
- [Shift] to turn off your light so that frogs won't see you
- [Space] to launch yourself from the nest
Mechanisms
- You die when you crash into trees/bushes. You will leave a shiny fire-flower there to light up a small area.
- You die when you are discovered by a frog, but the frog will start to emit light!
- Don't be afraid of death. There is no penalty and we have infinitely many fireflies!
- Die near a torch to leave a fire-flower and unlock hidden paths.
About Nests
- There are 16 nests in the forest.
- You can spawn from any nest you've found.
- Enters nest selection mode after death.
- [A]/[D] to select nest, and [Space] to confirm selection.
- Try finding all the nests. But most importantly, enjoy exploring the forest!
Credits
Managed to find all 16 but it was not easy. It was a little unclear which areas I could fly over and which I would run into. Could use more nests as checkpoints between areas. Other than that I liked it a lot!
@comicsans Oh no! We forgot to make nests remember the launch direction. Thanks for reminding us!
@daflamingpotato Seems the darkness is causing trouble. Either for finding the right path or prevent running into obstacles. But some obstacles do mismatch their colliders, and we will fix them in the future.
@wodensfang Yes. Frogs in the large pond have ridiculously long range. Because we want to put no lights on that lake while provide players some obstacles. Other frogs should be of similar ranges.
dynamic. The atmosphere is cozy~~~~ Good job guys
dark mode seemed a bit cheating for me, as without light i could go right through the frogs :D and i didn't use slowing down that much as the other ways to navigate seemed enough. and the atmosphere is so nice!
i also found out how the torches work while playing and after that noticed that you mentioned it in the description. it is worth being a surprise imo, cause it gives you this 'aha!' moment :)
the only thing i could wish for is maybe a little hint where to search for the nests that are left as i found 13 of them and was a bit stuck looking for the rest!
my favorite game so far, had lots of fun :)
upd - finally found all the nests! That was tough, I even recorded a video with question if path that I was trying to take was intended, but then I finally found hidden passage. Thanks for this game :)
Also these nasty frogs have very long tongue.
Zoomed around, got 10 out of 16 spots ~ would Bee again.
The music fits the atmosphere very nicely, the controls are ok but not the best (in particular the slowing down is very hard to use I think), and it’s sometimes not easy to see where we can and cannot pass.
It was really difficult in two places—first, realizing that I could fly through some grass that looks exactly like the kind you can't fly through, and second, I spent quite a while looking for the last nest up top, which was placed randomly on a lake without any hints or the ability to highlight the location.
But overall, it was very beautiful and atmospheric! A thumbs-up for the frogs and fireflies. We love them too :)

@alexascher Congratulations on clearing the game! Apologize for the first difficulty. We could have make obstacles and their collision boxes more consistent or have more hints for the ones that you can pass through. But for the second one, it is an intensional design where we want players to feel lost without the help of light. There are a few lilypads that points the correct direction but they are also quite difficult to find and to be understood.
there's not much I can say that others haven't already, but I thought the music and art worked well, and the difficulty was pretty well calibrated too.
And an interesting thing—I first activated the upper-right torch through the wall, and while you're selecting a nest, the light radius becomes slightly larger. So, I ended up on the lake a bit cheekily at first—I managed to fly through while the door was closing. :)
Seems lily pads are still not good enough hints. Those two-in-a-row lily pads points the direction to either next two-in-a-row pads or the goal, the nest. Other single lily pads are pure decorations (maybe we should remove these).
