Everybody knows how electronics works: it's tiny creatures inside electronic devices moving pixels and carry electrical charge from one side to another.

You are an employee in Tiny Inc. Repair Shop and it is your work to open the device and understand why tiny creatures don't do their job from time to time.

Tiny Inc. Repair Shop is a tiny puzzle game with 5 levels and a small story about what is happening with Tiny Creatures in the devices and why the got missing.

Gameplay

You need any of your tiny creatures to take a charge (lightning bolt) and bring it to the battery. The creature should come to the battery cell in order to trigger level pass (e.g. if it can't reach the battery but is close to it that won't work).

You can drag and drop creatures on the device grid, and then press power button to wake them up. You can press the power button again to restart the level.

There are three types of creatures:

  • Green horizontal one (Left Rightwalker) goes only horizontally: from left to right
  • Red vertical one (Reddy Tallington) goes only vertically: from top to bottom
  • Blue bull one (Bullsaurus) doesn't go anywhere and can't pick up the charge, but if it sees red color (vertically or horizontally) it will charge and push everything on his way. At the moment the only red thing that triggers him is Reddy Tallington I didn't have time to implement other red things :(

There is also a non-playable tiny creatures:

  • Walls: they are just standing there, blocking your path
  • Ice Blocks: they have a heater under them that you can enable/disable if you put

Known bugs

  1. If you don't see your notepad, consider opening the game fullscreen
  2. Sometimes it may seem you are stuck because the creatures bump into each other and change direction. You need to find the right configuration to make it work. Yes, that's annoying but I didn't have time to fix this issue, sorry :(

Very cute game! I really like the art style and the creature designs! Good concepts of mechanics involved as well. With some more time, this could be an amazing game!

Interesting puzzle concept and idea with electrical devices! I would like the visual tutorial to be a bit more clear.

That was fun! No real complaints, other than I wish there were more levels.

I love that the tiny creatures got to have a beach day after all that hard work

Also... I feel called out:

It was a lot of fun to find out why all the things broke at the end of the game! I enjoyed your humour!

Lovely little entry! I love how much personality you gave the world and the little creatures. The puzzles were a little tricky and seemed kind of broken, but that just made it more charming! Haha... graphics and audio were a great fit and I really liked the whole package. Very nice little ending screen, too! Great work.

PS: I realized I forgot to shout out some of the more subtle things like the graphical transitions and how snappy and smooth the controls are. I guess they were so well done I didn't even notice until I thought about it for another moment! Very very good work on that and making it feel seamless. :)

Thanks so much @hacksawunit for the detailed feedback, I am so happy you enjoyed the mood of the game and finished it :)

Just for me to digest some learnings: did all puzzles seem broken or some of them? When you solved the puzzles did it feel that you understood the solution or was it like "I don't know why, but it worked"?

Loved it! I especially liked that everything was explained very well! Very unusal for a jam game

@iovorobiev For some of them, it seemed like I was able to put a creature onto the power⚡ before pressing the button, which seemed to defeat the puzzle for a few of them. I tried not to do every time, but for some puzzles I just dragged the creature onto the power⚡until they stuck and I could have them walk over to the battery. It just seemed, design wise, like I was kind of finding an unintended solve, rather than finding a clever solution.

It took me a while to pass the 2nd stage but got used it after that. The puzzle mechanics is really well designed and I loved playing it. Good job.

Light and fun puzzle! Like many above, I wish there were more levels and creatures, but it's a compo entry, so I totally get it!

Fun puzzle game! Interesting level design and different capabilities of each of the tiny creatures to be used to solve the puzzles. I only wish that when restarting it didn't clear the board of all my guys and just let me adjust things instead of having to reposition everything.

Fun puzzle game! I'm not sure if most of the puzzles had an extra creature or two, or if I was just finding alternate solutions to some of them, but it was quite fun. It would be nice to be able to fast-forward the creatures movement, especially when you're trying the same puzzle three or four times.

Really loved the twist on the theme! I can see this game having a lot of potential in a possible full release! The mechanics were solid, and the art was really cute! I guess my biggest complaints would have to be the music, and I think the game would benefit from having a move counter, or some performance metrics. I could see this being cool zachtronics-like game! Great job!

Wow we have a similar idea, but mostly different. We both use red to make other creature move forward XD. Glad to see a different take on a similar idea! good job.

What an original puzzle! The puzzles are well-designed, and each tiny creature has its own unique mechanic! At first, I found it a bit challenging to understand how the game works, but I quickly got the hang of it. In my humble opinion, I might suggest starting with simpler levels (for example, introducing just one tiny creature and then gradually adding more), but I understand that creating this entire game on your own for the Compo format is truly impressive. A solid entry, great game!

Nice puzzler! Nice and polished graphics, the only thing that felt a bit off style was the you "fixed it popup" but it's a minor issue. Wish it had some sound effects but other than that I have no complaints.
