Waddle is a puzzle game about helping little ducklings find the way to Momma duck.

While we do provide a WebGL build, we strongly encourage to play the downloadable version as it contains WebGL incompatible graphical tweaks that make the game look nicer.

How to Play

The tiny ducklings are searching for their mama! The flock will start at their nest and travel in a straight line until they reach a wall. The direction of the flock is determined by the leading duckling.

  • The red duckling prefers to turn left.
  • The blue duckling likes to go right.
  • The pink duckling sends the flock back in the direction they just came from.

You can also click on any duckling to make it stop and hold the rest of the line behind it.

Can you figure out the correct order of ducklings to reunite them with their mama?

The overall presentation is fantastic, the popup tutorials are very clear and look great. The levels were also fun to figure out, even though the splitting up mechanic was a bit too much for my small brain to handle sometimes, overall a really great jam game!

Very very nice! Super cute graphics, happy music, funny sound fx.
It feels a bit like a 3D puzzle lemmings, really nice. Have to admit, I got stuck on the first level with the splitting up mechanic, not sure I fully understand how it works, or what it's meant to do?

Overall really impressed with this game <3

Really nice game ! The ducks looks good and the puzzles are fun challenging 👌
I got few bugs tho, like when stopping ducks while they move around, or as the screenshot below shows (but nothing too impactfull).
Good work for this ludum dare !

Really nice puzzle game, especially the split/merge mechanics introduced later made for some nice brain teasers. And the visuals are really nice too, the cute little ducklicks waddling over the board and quacking are the cherry on top!

Hi there! 😊 I noticed that the game link on Ludum Dare isn't on itch.io. Just a heads up—I had to find it here by guessing the url.

The art in this game is quite charming, with a delightful touch. in the start It seemed like the game was zoomed in when I started the first level, and I couldn't quite see where the ducks were heading. Then, almost by instinct and somewhat randomly, I scrolled with the mouse, and voilà, there was the duck mama

@velvetlobster as far as I'm aware, itch doesn't highlight Ludum Dare links since quite some time ago. The link was there, but it's buried in the "Links" section hidden in the "More Information" dropdown. We added the link to the description of the itch page as well, but it would be great if itch could add a link in the top right corner of the page like they do for game jams hosted on itch.io itself. Thank you for the info though.

Regarding the default camera framing, it used to center on the start tile, but then we tweaked camera rotations a bit and the code for centering broke. Some adjustments were planned, but unfortunately we ran out of time.

So cute ;) I may love hamsters but man ducklings would be fun to scorch too... The mechanic of duck ordering and different functionality based on hat is genius.

Adorable, and very beautifully presented. I found the mechanics a touch confusing at times, particularly how the splitting up mechanic worked with stopping, but it was a lovely, simple game with so many details. Love the little touches like the leaves and the wind. Well done!

Fund little game, very cute ducklings! I wanted to speed up the execution sometimes, and it would have been nice to drag around the world or pan when your mouse is on the edge of the screen.

There's a bug in the screenshot level where it gets stuck ![Screenshot_2024-10-09_15-13-36.png](///raw/6c5/z/68451.png)

The game's presentation is excellent, I agree, with concise and aesthetically pleasing tutorials. The levels were enjoyable to solve, though the mechanic took me a moment to figure out at the start. Overall, it’s a well-executed and entertaining game! Congrats. And the Shaders! lovely!

Game is very nice and very cute. I like the idea. It is hard to grasp but rewarding when you manage to understand it. I love the theme and music goes very well with it.

Simply a very beautiful and relaxing game. A great jam entry. It's almost hard to believe this was made in under 72 hours. I was instinctively trying to press "space" to pause the game and I've noticed that sometimes it spawns a second duckling line! Also, the ducks get stuck sometimes when there are two of them commanding at once(like in the screenshot).

Thank you all for all the kind words, and for the bug reports and improvement ideas! We've been writing down some things we could improve, and we might release a post-jam update on itch. @francoisvn making all camera movement on the mouse would definitely be better, so we might do that.

Some of the tutorial pop-ups would benefit a lot from being a short video instead of an image, as it's hard to properly explain the line splitting and merging with an image and a bit of text. That would probably help introduce the mechanic to new players.

@bstabuu We are aware of some bugs when multiple ducks in one line are giving orders, we just didn't have enough time to find and fix every bug - even though our programmer spent most of his time working on the duck movement  Thanks for pointing it out though, we'll try to fix it in the post-jam update.

And the ability to pause would probably also be nice, so thanks for the idea :)

So if anyone really enjoys the game, maybe check the itch page in a few days, I'll try to design (at least) one more level as well ;)

Love the art and vibe, and the game design is clever!

Some feedback:

- Failing the level should reload and keep my current setup, instead of going back to the level selection.
- Arrows felt unintuitive. Would've been better if the arrows were below the ducks, or if you could simply drag and drop to rearrange!

This is a lovely treat! My choir has a thing for rubber ducks, so when I saw this I knew I had to play it.

There's a lot of great puzzle design in here. The music and sfx fit the vibe perfectly and the art style is great. Do us all a favor and make this a full release! (I'd pay for it.)

Masterfully done game! I wonder if you're going to take it further from here and in my humble opinion - you should :duck:

Thank you for waddling this game to my stream :)

Excellent game! I liked everything - graphics, animations, effects, sound, gameplay. Looks like a complete project! A little difficult for me, I completed 9 levels, but that's my problem. Well done!

Really good, really cute! The silly looks on their faces as they confidently wave their siblings into the water… 😵‍💫

Several times I thought I just wouldn't be able to get it and then I did. I really did get stuck on level 9 tho, so I'll have to come back for that one, can't try forever :(

Really enjoyed all the levels I managed to get through. They were tough! You did a lot with very little, introducing so many ways the ducklings could interact without adding new kinds of tiles or anything. Very satisfying.

Of course adorable graphics accompanied by adorable sound effects and really nice music that fits the mood very well.

Overall a good, polished puzzler with lots of personality, well done! 🦆
