[raw]
made by Jahwffrey for Ludum Dare 56 (JAM)

Welcome To Ultimate Mug Ball!

Duke it out against your friend in this two-player vs contest! Choose teammates, place objects on the desk to make an arena, then try to launch the rubber-band ball into your opponent's mug! First to three wins!

HOW TO PLAY

  • Relevant controls are always shown at the top of the screen.
  • Use Arrow Keys/WASD + Space/Enter to navigate the menus, place objects and players, and to select a teammate to control.
  • While placing objects or players, use Q/E to choose which object or player to place.
  • Once controlling a player, Use Arrow Key/WASD to move and Space to jump. When you touch the ball, you will enter aiming mode: Aim with WASD/Arrows, then hold Space to power the shot. Add spin with WASD/Arrows while charging!
  • You can also press R to Respawn and re-place a player next turn, or Backspace to vote to reset the ball.
  • When the ball hits a player, they will either get hurt or catch it depending on who they are and how fast the ball is moving.

Seems like a cool idea, but I have no idea what is going on.

I was hard to play by both hands, I've managed it somehow.

Pretty involved for a jam game! I really liked the announcer and the general chaos of it

this is a bit confusing at first but it's very cool! I like that the players kinda build the map themselves in the beginning!

This concept is really cool, I loved setting up the map. It was weird competing against myself because I didn't know which side to root for. The commentary made me laugh and it was a great addition, overall well done!

I was expecting a boring gameplay when playing solo, but I was very surprised that even playing both sides I had fun (and not only on the map setting), so I just have to say: good job!

It was a lot of fun. Too bad I don't have a friend to play a fair game with. The characters are really varied, but unfortunately I ran into a problem where one team completely blocked the other team from getting to the ball. Maybe they should add the ability to jump while on another character to build a ladder. Anyway, the game is fun and funny, good job!

this was really fun to play, even by myself. i can imagine it being even better with a friend.
i really liked the setup phase where you place the objects and your team mates. nice variety in the team mates too.
it was cool how you could pass the ball to you own team mates or use it to take out the opposing team.
i accidentally killed myself with a throw once as well.
it also felt really satisfying nailing a shot from across the desk. well done!

I absolutely loved this concept! Setting up the map was a blast. Competing against myself was a unique twist—it was hard to decide which side to cheer for! The commentary added a hilarious touch, making the whole experience even better. Overall, fantastic job!

I surprised to see sport simulator!
I played with my self (oh, that sounds bad) but it was still quite fun (that sounds even worse).
I think rabbits really bad in passes and it makes them almost useless (but maybe I didn't get they strong sides).
p.s. Power ranger is a beast

Hey pretty solid entry with some depth to the game! Hard because I have no friends so I played against myself to check out the mechanics, etc. Works great!

More fun and complex than I realized it would be. I threw it off the table so many times with the tall guy, I couldn't help but go for deep court shots. There is a large curve for understanding the players, abilities, spin, and object placements that is great for replayability, though that might get missed by most people looking for a quick playthrough. This is an ambitious game that you managed to pull off! gg.

This is brilliant! I played by myself for like, 15 minutes... can't wait to test this out in the office tomorrow (especially as I've developed a few killer strats already).

This is a great concept. Reminds me a lot of worms in a way. That said, I was playing it by myself so falls a little flat when doing that. Unless i missed it, would have been nice if there was a VS CPU option, though i suspect thats maybe a tall order for a LD game to have intelligent CPU in a game like this. Either way, nice work!

Neat idea, funny characters, nice environment and well executed game overall. I had a little hiccup on the setup but it was understandable after first game. Hilarious voice acting btw. :D

Looks great! I really like the 3D office. The concept feels really fun. Maybe it was a little complicated to understand at first, and maybe the platforming physics + camera movements could be better. Solid entry!
