Slingshot Delivery by i_cam

[raw]
made by i_cam for Ludum Dare 56 (COMPO)

Go around the system delivering presents to your cool alien creature friends! Use your grapple hook tail combined with gravitational sling-shotting to find packages in the wild, and deliver them to friends!

Controls:

  • Click - use your grapple hook in the direction of your click, which can be used to slingshot yourself!
  • WASD - Use a jet-pack like acceleration force, helpful for altering trajectory to avoid asteroids
  • R to reset (added by popular demand for all present challenge runs)

>> Play now on itch.io! <<

There are 17 presents total, see if you can get them all! (it's very hard tho lowkey, i've only gotten 16)

Bug fixes on itch.io build: - Present hitbox is bigger - Grapple hook has more forgiving hitbox - Added immovable asteroids & simple tutorial text on start planet - Adjusted "space"ing of asteroids & planet in level - Moved Blobert to upper planet of his duo (it was cold on the other one) - Planet gravity is doubled - Added reset button (R)

Very fun physics game! Slinging myself around felt really good and intuitive, especially with the wasd commands to help out a bit.

This game is so sick. Sling shoting yourself is a blast and it's super sick at high speeds. I will say there does feel like there is a lot of asteroids, but you do learn to navigate around them. Just a few less to make it more open would be cool. I was able to get a high score of 11

@wren-erickson glad you enjoyed, tried to make the movement as fun as possible, there's definitely some cool emergent tech

Super fun combo of gravity and grappling demonstrated in a simple game loop. I like the music and I wanna see more with this idea

I loved the physical interactions in this game. It seemed very fast paced, but if you play it more, it only goes better

Cool game! Physics take a bit of getting used to, but are fun for sure. The thing I would improve a little bit is communicating information to the player: what should I do? where should I go? But I get that exploring randomly can also be part of the fun as well. Anyway, a nice entry!

Spinning physics! 🚀 Spinning was incredibly intuitive and just plain fun, especially with the WASD controls. The space opera atmosphere and heroic music added a great atmosphere! 🎶 Overall, the dynamic gameplay and physics interactions are just the bomb! Keep up the good work! 🌟✨

@thomas-bringer ultimately i agree with you. if i had one more substantial non-bug-fix feature i could add it would be either a minimap or onscreen "crazy taxi" arrows when you are near a present or a creature. i rectified this in the short term by zooming out the camera just so you can see more at once but the problem still persists. thanks for the feedback!

Really satisfying to zoom across space so quickly, had a lot of fun just flying around (the little guy is also very awesome.

I got a really bad score because I spent too long just swinging around and having fun with the movement alone. Great submission!

This game has fun physics! Honestly the movement is super fun, and the idea to give an astronaut a grappling hook is super innovative and makes for a unique movement feeling, especially for how fast you can go! The music is awesome too, I'd love to see a more fleshed out version of this some day!

This game is suepr fun! I love the wildly fast movement you can get if you nail the grappling hook! I managed to get 11 at max but I just kept wanting to play it! The background visuals are super nice and I love the intense space music, its stuck in my head at this point hahaha.

I think the only suggestion I may have would be towards some sort of indicators of where to go, its certainly fun flying around searching so they aren't really necessary, but having a firmer sense of direction would be a different type of fun!

But that's just a nitpicky suggestion, you did a great job with this game!

Sometimes I wish I was a weird cat guy flying through space delivering packages to noses.

Eventually I quit my job, broke free of the bounds of gravity and saw the face of god. On the whole a pretty chill time.

@loveschach banger quote lowkey. it is entirely intentional that you can escape the map and simply bask in the glory of parallax star background. might make it a wall paper we'll see...
