Tiny Takeout by Saprina289

[raw]
made by Saprina289 for Ludum Dare 56 (JAM)

BUG FIX UPDATE: We fixed the white squares! They should now appropriately show the drip coffee sprite! Sorry about that! The fix is live on the itch.io and here (although we recommend playing on itch.io). The desktop build thankfully did not have that bug so it did not need updating

After the alien invasion of Earth you thought that your day-to-day life may change. However, after the long and arduous war, you are still working your minimum-wage 9-to-5 job. The only difference is that now you must prepare tiny takeout for our Alien Overlords! Work as an employee of Le Café Petit and please our tiny invaders. Perform spectacularly... or else. Bon Appetit!

Updating to add: Please read the manual for some basic instructions! Press E to interact with customers to take their order and to pick up items. Interact with the drip coffee container and tea pot to pick it up and hover over their respective cups (found underneath the machine) to make them ready to serve! Steam should show up when they are ready to be given to the customers. For espresso, pick up a cup from beneath the espresso machine and place it on the machine using E. Click on the button on the espresso machine to start the process! It should make a ready to serve cup of espresso to be given to customers. Serve the customers at their seats to keep them happy! Crouching down will make it easier to give the customers their orders. Here are the controls:

Movement - WASD

Rotate Camera - Mouse

Interact - E

Crouch - Z

Pause Menu - Tab

Here is the final build of our Ludum Dare 56 game, Tiny Takeout! We have officially fixed the Web/HTML5 build. However, the UI is not sized correctly for the Ludum Dare website version. Please play on itch.io for the full experience or download if you are on Windows!

Enjoy!

It looks good, but you need to add promts

Cool idea, but the red alien has a white square instead of a regular item.

I added instructions to the description! There were also the controls and some hints in the "manual" tab of the main menu! @teroflups and @gaudy thanks for pointing that out!

your game is really beautiful, all of the asset and item show care and add to the mood, great work !
i struggled (like some others folks here) with what to do but i still had fun taking everything in my hand so with a few little tweaks in the prompt it should be really fun

Cool game but at first it was not clear to me what to do (it would be cool if there was a tutorial))

Love the vibes, having to run a coffee shop for plants and aliens is fun and the art and music add to it really well. The drink orders are pretty hard to fill though, and usually another customer comes in before the first drink is ready causing backups, and like another person said the orders are sometimes just white squares.

Fun premise, loved the mood of the game. I would add a difficulty setting though, people are fast to back up if you don't react quickly :D

I was drawn in by the cup of coffee on the cover and really want to try the delicious-looking food in the game. Perfect Graphics!

I like the vibes of this a lot! Nice choice on a food based game haha, I like the art for all the little treats! The alien sounds did scare me a bit since they were louder than the music, but I'm pretty jumpy haha. Nice work overall!

This was a fun (albeit very hard) game  I found the creatures got angry way too fast and I just couldn't keep up  It took me a while to figure out I needed to crouch to pickup things on the floor when I wasn't quite close enough to deliver haha. Keep on making games!

Fun game! I really like the idea that you have to crouch to be at the same height as your customers. Really nice graphics as well. Gameplay wise the simulation makes it funny when you just drops things to the floor but it gets quite diffucult to serve your customer on time so I did not get very far. Good work :)

haha is that glep? Really neat game, only issue I had was the customers wanted coffee and tea often which would suck cause it would take too long and eventually the line became so long it'd be impossible to make a comeback. Maybe in a post jam version adjust the rate of certain items being ordered. For my first playthrough I actually ran out of tea cups cause they just kept asking for it.

I lost because I thought I had to get the cookies out from under the glass, but they were on the counter next to me the whole time :sob:

This looks awesome!!! I loved how interactive and 'sandbox-y'/sim everything is. It did make it VERY hard to fulfill even one order though, but I liked how clunky and noob employee I felt. Added to the humor. lol. I would maybe make the timer on the customers more forgiving? So you can manage to get a few orders maybe? Even when I had a cup of coffee made, I didn't know where to stand to give it the customer. But the shop looks so cool and I love the mood.
