Synopsis:

This game is a 2D platformer made in Godot where you are the leader of a tribe and have to find followers and lead them to the end of the level.

Pressing your mouse allows you to empower the followers that are near you and releasing the mouse shoots them towards your mouse position like a projectile. This can be used to destroy obstacles as well as to kill some enemies.

All feedback is welcome, hope you all enjoy it as much as i enjoyed making it!

So far have uploaded Windows only, but will try to get web export in as well if I can figure it out.

Controls:

  • Move with AD or Left, Right

  • Jump with W, Up or Space

  • Imbue followers by pressing Left mouse when they are near you

  • Release (shoot) followers by letting go the Left mouse button after charging

Fun concept. A custom font from dafont, moody lighting, and faster player movement would really improve this game. Great work for 48 hours though!

Good game! i had fun accumulating a lot of followers and shooting them all at once, though it took me a while to get them across the level.

It has great mechanics for a 48 hours game. I found some minor bugs during gameplay, but definitely has potential!

What an interesting concept. I had a lot of fun hurling my little followers around. I think the game dearly needs some check points. Little shrines that register how many men you have and then you can continue from there with those men if you die. Also at one point I got stuck in an endless loop of dying and had to restart the game. Good stuff :8ball:

Fun mechanic with shooting your followers forward! I got stuck after the first beetle, it wasn't too clear to me how to proceed forward. Otherwise nice game!

Overall very fun! The platform mechanics can be a bit frustrating but when it works it's very satisfying to shoot your followers and try to make them come with you. I agree that it needs a checkpoint system though. It felt really rough having to start over.

fun game! using your guys as bullets is a nice touch. played the web build and got stuck when the big insect stepped on me but i kept respawning in the same place. Some kind of spawn point for each area would have nice.

This is a really cool idea, and a lot of fun to play too. I unfortunately haven't made it to the end though since I keep messing up and getting killed. Do you plan to do a post-jam version with checkpoints?

One minor bug I only noticed after a few deaths: When you're throwing followers they kind of hover upwards slightly, which can cause them to clip into any ceilings they were touching and get stuck

PS: The web build shows up as a debug build. I'm not sure it hurts anything but release builds tend to be smoother/faster

Thanks everyone! for all the feedback, if I get time i will definetly try to put some checkpoints this weekend in a post-LD version

Also I didn't realize I had published as debug, will look into that!

Edit: Fixed the above issues, and implemented some of the feedback (e.g. checkpoints)

Nice concept! I liked the tunes, makes you feel tiny and adventurous. Just like others, I also had some trouble platforming with my group to the extend I just wanted to see what's at the end, without them. And boy should I have had some followers then :D

Good work either way, the main mechanic is solid and you had done good around it.

I LOVE THIS GAME NAME

There's a ton of potential here. A Spelunky-style roguelike version of this would be amazing. I hope you continue to work on this concept!

These are unique mechanics! I like that a lot. It was definitely a fresh take on a platform/puzzler. Also, the intro was full of mood \*chef's kiss\*

One improvement I might suggest is to implement a simple reflection logic for when the followers bounce against a wall. They seemed to immediately bounce back at me, even though I would expect them to bounce onward (like a billiards ball).

By the way, it was possible to get the followers stuck by jumping and then throwing them close to the ceiling haha.
