build_a_dready_bear.swf by orbitaldot
build-a-dreadybear.swf is a prototype file we managed to dig up from our archives*. It's a small game where customers order customized plushes from you, and it's your job to assemble them using your menagerie of strange stations. Watch for incoming orders and take note of the ingredients they ask for, then assemble their wanted plush by dropping ingredients into a mixer. Once you think the mixer is full, send it to their order and hope that they're satisfied!
(* In reality it was made for Ludum Dare 56 :) )
We weren't able to get everything done in time for the compo... but what is there has us motivated to make a more complete post-jam version :)

- Fixed wrong eye sprites being used
- Fixed mixer contents not showing up correctly
- Fixed fabric balls accidentally dropping if mouse is moved too fast
It’s hard to believe you managed to create this in just 3 days! I really like the "build-a-bear" concept—it’s super creative.
I’d love to see more feedback when completing or missing a task—maybe a points system or something similar?
The sound effects are also really well done!
Still, great job! Good luck to your team in your future projects!
In the "head dispenser" screen it wasn't clear that you move the mixers... i'd default them to not being directly under the dispensers so players knew they could be moved. Or maybe make the knob on the head machine change the head type and a button to dispense so you didn't have to keep checking the contents of the mixer.
It says you have to drag your completed mixer to the order - but it seemed like you could drag a mixer to the order any-ol'-time... not sure it it's not completed or I got it wrong (I'd prefer it just auto-completed) but I really really wanted to see A PICTURE OF THE DANG BEAR I JUST CREATED! Maybe I didn't make it far enough to see them: it took me a few restarts to get to day 2... maybe at the end of week there's a Goth Bin Teddy Bear Picnic.
Anyhoo... how did I end up spending so long playing this demented game? Great work, super original and weird and great, one of my favorite entries this LD.
What I missed is a score for completing the tasks or getting a penalty when I mix the wrong stuff together. Now you can just put something together and give it to the "customer".
The art and overall mood was very weird, but I guess you wanted to accomplish that. :D The style was definitively seen everywhere, not only in the visuals, but also in the music. The different "body part games" were different enough and I had fun putting stuff together. Well done in just two days! :)
I did have difficulty with the head selection, I just could not figure out how to get them to fall into the mixers I wanted them to. Not sure if it was me or hit boxes being off.
Overall a fun make-the-order style game (not sure what the correct genre name is).
