Sea Beckons by Empyreans

Royal Orders
His Royal Highness the Prince requires your services, as his Promised Bride was abducted by the Enemies of the Crown.
Assemble your crew of misfits and prepare your old ship.
Depart for the Rhomborian Isles where the Promised Bride was last seen.
Find her and deliver to the Fort Quad on the Western Coast of Tetra.
Plantation owner should provide you with provisions for your journey.
If successful, your past wrongdoings as a pyrate are to be forgiven, but
Failure would bring upon you and your crew imminent & final justice.
Get your tricorn hat, eyepatch and board the ship in this naval story-driven game!
How to Play
- W/S - Change Ship's Speed Mode (+200 RPM / -200 RPM)
- Shift + W/S - Increase Speed Manually (+1 RPM / - 1 RPM)
- A - Steer Ship Left (requires velocity)
- D - Steer Ship Right
- [hold] Q/E - Drop / Weight Anchor Left or Right respectively. Great way to quickly steer the ship.
- LMB - Click buttons in the menus
- LMB - Order to Shoot Turret (Requires specific crew member)
- RMB - Order to Shoot Cannons (Requires specific crew member)
- I - Open Inventory (only when anchored at a port)
Gameplay notes - This is a non-linear game with many different endings (not in Jam version) - Finding crew members is optional, but would improve your ship. - Ship can sail on reefs at the cost of gradually decreasing health, but not on shore. - Ship is repaired automatically after a short delay.

About Jam Version
Unfortunately in the last hour I had to cut out all planned story, combat, level-design and etc. all to create poor jam version you see rn.
In time, I will update the game to the real thing with the intended experience.

Completing the game in time was optional from the start, but just really wanted to do it. The whole game is also experiment for even a bigger game I make and a great deal of knowledge was already extracted from it so that's a definite plus. No regrets!
I do hope you will all try the final version once it's out.
I will be publishing the game on itch.io in web build :)
and try my game if you got time x)
The mood is good tho !
Collected some stuff and got to the end of the jam version :)

Ship travel mostly feels good. Steering the ship in tight spaces can be a bit tricky sometimes. I tried reducing the speed at first but then it would take me a tad too long to get away from reefs. (I got to see the bottom of the ocean a lot haha)
Surprisingly, I got the best results when I tried maneuvering at full speed. Still a bit tricky but I managed to get to the end.
I'm looking forward to this project's future :) ~~(Gimme all the pirate games)~~
Meanwhile, this concept is something you can definitely be proud of!
Steering is supposed to be harder on lower speeds, it works the same with ships IRL :)
Anchor dropping is actually the best way to steer your ship quickly. I secretly call it "Anchor Drift"
And in the final version you can drop anchor to left and right side, but it will be released only in a few weeks.
~~There is definitely no big pirate game I'm making~~
I'd definitely like to see a more developed version of this as I could so how fun a pirate game like this could be. There aren't a lot of good pirate games anymore and I remember being very disappointed with Port Royale 4 and wishing for something more engaging even if its on a smaller scale.
The art, music and presentation were well done.
Controlling the boat took some getting used to because of how slow it moves, but it wasn't too hard. I managed to make it past the final winding section at least. I think it might be hard to win a sea battle with it though.
I know it's incomplete, but what's there looks promising, and I look forward to seeing how it turns out!
By the way, what engine did you use to make the game? I tried running it on Linux through wine, but it failed because it needed to install Microsoft Edge runtime (there's probably a way to make it work, but I just switched to a Windows machine)
@ale I used Construct 3. When full version is out it will include Web and Linux build.
This game will be updated and there will be all the content I've planned. It's merely a quick practice though for a much bigger pirate game of my dreams that I wanted to make for an incredibly long time now and I will set out to make it happen as soon as I am done here.
Thank ya'll for the kind words :)
Excited to see where this goes!
Didn't check out Skies yet tho. Thanks!
(What engine is this made in? Seems like it's asking me to download "Microsoft Edge Webview2 Runtime"...)
(Welp, it turned out to be all white... I should've expected this, probably.)

Skipping rating due to not being able to play the game; sorry!
i liked the water physics and the ship control
