The concept of this is excellent! I love the visual style and little flourishes of writing, it's incredibly flavourful! Gameplay-wise, I struggled to play in the browser due to the wonderful particle physics of the bees, I think. It got quite laggy, but I was able to play to the best of my ability (I wasn't very good). Dead nice!

the web build doesn't work here...I played the game on itch, the idea has a lot of potential, I feel like the player being a swarm of insects is under-utilized. At times it just felt like throwing punches.
Good job regardless, Beat'em'all is an original genre choice for this theme i think. Although now that i'm writing this it actually makes perfect sense ^^

This was quite cool! Did struggle to aim sometimes when an enemy would get up close, wish you could aim independently of the movement. but overall quite a fun game!

The game was fun for a bit, I liked the music until it stopped playing. The swarm effect is cool, but was causing frame drops on my machine.

This was a lot of fun. I enjoyed looking at the silly things on the wall in the background too!

The text before the levels is a really cool way to bring more personality to this world, awesome worldbuilding! I don't know really what the flies did to find itself in such a situation as the last level but it was a fun challenge! Nevertheless I've failed. Good job!

Really fun game/galery of memes, the boss was insanely hard. Also, it is a crime that the Q doesn't oneshot the basic enemies xD Cool pixelart too.

I really like the visual style and the mood. The poetry also adds to the experience.

pretty fun game and a cool idea I had a lot of frame drops for some reason. other than that the pixel art was cool and it fits the theme really nicely!

I like the idea, and the style is great. I played on itch.io, performance wasn't the best, and the music stopped.

I had a few issues when playing but I like the idea. The graphics were simple but the effects on the flys were nice as well as the character sprites. Music was simple but fit with the game feel. Controls were ok but I had some stutters with some moves and felt like potentially the keyboard controls could have been mapped different (R and G feel nicer to reach with WASD on a qwerty keyboard then Z,X in my opinion).

First problem I ran into was that going backwards at the start there is an invisible wall which wasn't obvious to me and I thought the controls had bugged. The second was the music wouldn't loop for me and just abruptly stopped.

Congratulations and great job on finishing a game for the Jam and I look forward to seeing your future games if you decide to do the Jam again.

The particle effect is a little too much for my computer, and performance were not great. I did'nt manage to beat the boss. Except for the performance issue, some audio feedback would help the "feeling" of the game. Simple sound fx when you use a skill or this kind of thing adds a lot.

For a first game, and a jam game, it's pretty cool! Good job!

Enjoyed playing the game, music was cool. Loved the swarm effect looked like you used boids there but not completely sure, other than that nicely done.

I really enjoyed how you made the swarm like its own entity made up little flies. The attacks are satisfying too!

Fun game. The swarm effect is really well done, and the style is funky. Someframes drop makes it a bit harder to enjoy, but still cool. Good job! :)

Man I would have loved to play a game like this back in the day, made me think of those side scrollers like the hobo game series. Nice work! :)

@ricoshade Yeah I did use boids! It's become a mainstay in my gamejam entries recently. There's a boat load of particles on top though hence the performance issues some are reporting :/

Nice aesthetics and cool flock system. Kinda reminded me of old school Flash games haha
A bit laggy on my PC but it was still playable, good job

Wow, this was really difficult! I struggled even on the easy level, and I tried many times to complete the hard level and only managed it by rushing past the final enemies! Boss level I just wasn't able to reach the end. I found it was really difficult to aim the 'normal' attacks, they seemed to fly off in any direction which was usually not towards the nearest enemy.

Game looks really cool though - I had the same lag issues as others, but it did seem to settle down after playing for a few minutes. I like the funny back stories too. Nice entry!
