For you my Lord by Maïssa

[raw]
made by Maïssa for Ludum Dare 56 (JAM)

A really narcicist and quite stupid king wants to test new poses for a portrait he comissionned to his court artist. To help him in this task, he asked his subjects to carry him after he falls to see if he is staying as majestic as always.image2024-10-07233345142.png

Fun game, a classic concept that works and is enjoyable.
The sound design has its own style, I like the idea. Maybe add more difficulty to the puzzles?
Great job!

I really enjoyed making pads for the different poses! The music was derpy but fit well.

What I really liked is that, instead of protecting the kingdom, the goal is to literally stop the king from falling. You summon monsters to slow his descent, and you have to strategically use their abilities to keep him suspended or slow him down. I thought it was a unique mix of fantasy and puzzle mechanics, with a good difficulty curve as you progress. If you enjoy games with creative gameplay concepts, I definitely recommend it!

Good concept and audio, some of the pieces didn't really feel like they helped much and I mainly just used the light green guy.

@swaglazio, @spoons, @saphi,
Thanks for all your comments !

@titoux, @dressorc, @plasticsword It was one of the "should have". We wanted to adjust the difficulty with a limitation for each creatures because some of them like you said @plasticsword are better than other (green creature). We prefered focusing on the polish of the game.

Great Game ! The idea is good and its execution is successful. The little monsters are too cute! I haven't had a very long gaming experience but it's the kind of game that I could relaunch if the mood is right.

Some improvement I could see useful would be if you could see some sort of indicator of where the king would be before he falls, the option to make the king fall early so you don't have to wait the full timer, and better indication on how many of the little creature you could use and more restrictions and variations on that. Overall though I like the ideas you put forward, and the silly vibe of the game worked well (the gta death sound was funny). Nice game!

This was great, very fun to try and guess how he was going to fall and how to use the fewest possible to get there. Loved the poses and the overall vibe. The music fit the humor and style very well and I was smiling the whole time I played, great work.

This made me chuckle. The music/sound design was particularly hilarious. I enjoyed the derpy visuals and the little shapes. Good job!
