Stacked Creatures by Kepsert

[raw]
made by Kepsert for Ludum Dare 56 (COMPO)

Stacked Creatures is my compo entry to the Ludum Dare 56 game jam.

In this game you can use a stack of creatures- called Jimmies- to collect the gemkey and make your way to the end of the level. Different Jimmies will have different abilities, and you'll meet, but also leave behind, Jimmies as you go. Each of them helping each other reach their goals! (I ran out of time to actually implement a goal)

I wasn't meant to participate in this Ludum Dare, but decided to do so anyway as a distraction from a loss in my life. #Copium. I hope this entry brings you joy! <3

You sir make me ashamed to call myself a dev. I had a bunch of excuses, but this blows them all away.
Wonderfully done! My whole team is playing this right now, and are really loving it!

So glad you persevered and made something dude! Great work, even more so as a compo entry. :v:

A great concept well executed, really enjoyed the increasing difficulty and abilities. if you decide to take it beyond the compo and develop more, it's a unique concept and open to plenty more level design.

Sad to say, my gaming skill failed me in this part. I'll await a playthough from someone good to know where I went wrong

Oh, first of all, I'm sorry for your loss! That said, the game is really fun! Love the 1bit graphics, it works really well. The mechanics are simple and really well made. Can't praise you enough for the level design, that's fantasticly well done. Good job!

Thanks for this game, it was really good. Hope it helped your mind for a while. You certainly seem to have put a lot into it, because it was super polished. Can't really find anything to complain about except maybe that I've seen similar things before, but that's not necessarily a bad thing~

Nice graphics, simple but with lots of personality. Looked great even on a huge monitor in fullscreen mode. The music and sound effects are very nice too and fit the pixel art of course.

Gameplay is the star attraction here tho, and you once again did a lot with very little by introducing the slight variations in the creatures without adding more inputs to worry about, and you introduced each new mechanic without words in a very nice way. Of course quick resets also help a lot. In general, just good ol' tried and true game design principles that you stuck to nicely. :)

Overall an impressive amount of stuff in here, with so many levels also, as well as an intro. The fact that it's a compo game is quite amazing to me.

Really good job, and best wishes for the future to you.

I'm glad to see you were able to put something together this time, despite the circumstances. This is a really creative entry, too, so I'm glad you submitted it! I liked the different powers that the guys have and the level design here made use of the different powers well to solve the puzzles. The graphics also make good use of the 1-bit style. Sending you best wishes and good vibes.
