ONE MILLION MICROSCOPIC KITTENS by Milestone Games

ONE MILLION MICROSCOPIC KITTENS! is a first person kitten saving game.
Your friend asked you to cat-sit a cat-mom and it’s kitten during your work-day in you home-lab.
But alas! The kitten got loose, managed to get in among your scientific equipment and jumped into your latest experiment vat!
Good news: Your experiment was a success.
Bad News: Now the kitten has shrunk and split into ONE-MILLION MICROSCOPIC KITTENS!
And to make things even worse - all of them have managed to escaped out into the lab.

How to play
The cat-mom happily let you enhance it into kitten-finding CAT-Scanner that can locate any kitten, no matter the size. Listen to the CAT-Scanner's purring to know when kittens are close!
While you won’t be able to see the kittens - if you know where they are you can spray kittens with your “Make things slightly larger”-spray to make them big enough to see and pick up! (The "Meowgnifying spray")

This effect is unfortunately only temporary so you have limited time to run back to the lab and drop the kittens into the petri dish for safekeeping, before they shrink and fall out of your hand!
But beware: You have to avoid your 'Doomba' automated vacuum bots, that have started mistaking the kittens for dust particles and are constantly trying to clean them up when you enlarge them!!
Find all 1 MILLION microscopic kittens, so you can combine them all together into one normal sized kitten again!

This game was so weird and charming, it's exactly the kind of creativity that I love about game jams. The purring sound for the cat scanner was particularly funny to me.
I can tell that there was a lot of work put into the environment. A few times, I had to jump up on the furniture to avoid getting hit by the roomba, and then jump over them, or run around them. That felt really fun, and it's where this game was at its best. It had me wishing that the roombas were faster, and that there was more furniture, so that the game could have been more about that. Being able to sprint and jump over them almost trivialized it.
Really good work!
As there is some extra interactable machinery it seems more steps for compiling the kitten were planned, or they are there just for fun?

Super cute entry! The mass amounts of micro-kitties totally scared me the first time they popped up. But the entire game was super cute. I loved the "catscan"! And the doggos in the picture were super cute! Thanks for sharing your game!
- The Doombas oscillated between a pretty decent challenge to being an absolute nightmare consistently. The design of the space with dividing paths that lets you dodge them is cool, but half the time they just appear around the corner and you couldn't dodge them at all and that sucks. And also half the game is just waiting for them to leave you randomly so you can proceed with the dash back. They are definitely necessary to the game or there's no tension, but they don't feel great yet.
- The need to hold down right mouse feels.... Pointless? Like yes the left hand holding a ball of tiny kittens is cute and all, but is completely superflous I got tired of holding right mouse down.
- I think the choice to incorporate the vertical axis in the scanning was unintuitive and annoying. Made the game harder but I think for a lot of players they'll never realise that up/down mattered and it just feels bugged and broken.
- Eventually though, hitting Doombas and dropping your kittens and having to go and locate randomly placed goals while randomly-routed enemies may or may not be around one of several corners on your way back that you can't do much about repeatedly got tedious. But the novelty was great and the art + sound was puuuurfect <3
- The Doombas need more tweaking for sure, and would probably benefit from additional interaction mechanics that rewards skills like careful planning or quick reactions.
- Agree re: the scanner as well - originally it had an energy meter that was only being spent while active, but it got too tedious to recharge it _and_ the spray so we decided quite late in the process to make it not require energy but we did not revisit how/when it was activated.
Edit-
I thought I'd lost at two points, one when I was trying to get cats from behind the desk with the microscope and got caught on the chair ( the cats were in the Kitchen on the other side of the wall ) and probably in the first few minutes when I realised there was a target above the microscope, but wasn't sure if all the kittens dropped were munched by the vaccuum cleaners or if they kinda 'respawned'
Purrrfect idea for the theme, beautiful graphics, really well done!

I beat it.
nice art, nice music, nice vacuums, nice lab, nice bathroom, nice, nice, nice. It was a pain trying to get ich.io to load the game, once I got it up and running everything worked nicely. :D Nice!
