Great atmosphere, amazing music and incredibly polished, loved every second. The voice acting adds a lot to the story. Very impressive for a 3 day jam

Solid game: I loved the voice acting and music! The graphics were really nice too and really enhanced the mood of the game. If I had to criticize anything it would be that the dialogue sometimes interrupts the gameplay a bit too frequently early on, but it's a minor issue. Great work!

A message for the whole team, no matter what anyone may say (although I think you will get all positive comments), congratulations on making such a wonderful game, it really is a work of art. So enjoyable and I loved the emotions it evoked. Great, great job - hope you will continue!!!

Nice atmosphere and hooking the voice acting up to the game. I kept forgetting to press space and had to cycle with 'E' a few extra times, but the game is calm enough to let the player set the pace of the game. Looking forward to the games you make in the future!

The graphics are beautiful and that voice has me in love!

Even though it's such a short game, I admired that the story has a beginning, a middle and an end.

Congratulations on the game.

The amount of quality voice lines is incredible. Storytelling, art, and audio were the strong points of this game. I feel like this could be a released game too. Nothing negative to say here, really great work!

This game really surprised me with its high level of polish. The voice acting is top-notch, and the music, along with the emotions it evokes, makes it truly memorable. Great job on creating this!

WOW! What an ending. That came out of nowhere. It's so human to go to a new place, kill all the animals and steal all the resources and then be surprised that nature does not like it.

The game feels super polished. Like release ready polished. Super nice art and SFX and that voice over is everything.

Controls seems solid and feel nice. Easy top pick up and all. Amazing entry.

WOW! incredible atmosphere, the audio is excellent and the pixel art gorgeous!

many things feel super polished: the parallax in the background, the particles effects, camera zooms, etc…

everything fits together so well!

i just have one suggestion which is to have some momentum on the submarine movement, it would help feel like underwater

overall, amazing game and experience, congrats!

Congratulations on your work. You managed to make a short and beautiful game with an actual storyline in it as well. Very impressive, I hope to see much more of your work in the coming jams!

Hell yeah, this was fabulous! I’m impressed by what you’ve all created!

Specifically Langotriel: The shift from script and sound to full on coding is impressive, and it's so cool to see you bring such an interesting world to life.

I hadn’t done music or sfx before this LD, while LD is the perfect opportunity to, it’s a bit intimidating to jump into without any prior experience, so I can only imagine how it was for you!

The voice acting was great, and experience-wise I love the blend between colorful curiosity and consequences of messing with nature.

You should all feel proud of what you have achieved here, and I am excited to see what’s next for the entire team!

This game definitely puts you in a mood. The visuals and music compliment each other quite well and don't overstay their welcome. Kudos to the voice actor for their performance. I kind of wish there was more to this bite sized experience.

@emsea Leaving you wanting more is always a good thing, no? :P For now there isn't a plan to expand it but maybe in the future, when other projects are finished, we can revisit it.

Also Wanted to ask if youre fine with me using gameplay from the game in this LDs [score chasers tournament](https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/56/$405421/ludum-dare-score-chasers-qualification-begins) intermission video. (Would play in the breaks of the tournament on my stream). Last year for reference

Please, whatever you do, keep working on this game, there's really a big potential. I am really amazed by what you were able to do in such little time. I kinda wanna redo it a few times, loved the vibes in this one

@gm3l I appreciate the kind words! I have a couple of other projects I am focusing on at the moment, and the team for this was put together specifically for the jam so I don't know how much more we will make together; that's up to each individual.

But I agree that it has potential and that we made great work :) Maybe we will revisit it in a year or two.

You guys! This was such a good entry for a 72 hour jam. Aesthetically pleasing combined with the music set the mood perfectly. Spoken dialogue that was done wonderfully. This is my favorite entry so far.

Absolutely beautiful little game. Certainly didn't expect that tone shift, even though our research partner (who which was just delightful! What an excellent VA!) hinted at it as time went on. I should have suspected! Everything lends to the atmosphere so perfectly - the lighting of the stones and mushrooms, that wonderful music, the parallax background. You captured some quite satisfying gamefeel, such that mining the stones wasn't boring but satisfying, and the amounts required were pretty much perfectly the right amount. If I were to nitpick anything, I'd just have liked the laser-swapping wheel to be a bit faster. That's a real nitpick though.

I'd have been happy for this to be a chill little game about the wonders of researching tiny creatures, ahaha. Most importantly, you managed to make me worried for a faceless character in a jam game, so damn good job all around. Even with a bigger team, this polish is impressive. Well done!

Polished entry. Tone shift was kinda unexpected :)
I think half of cut scenes could happen as a background exposition so pacing would be more fluid, and reserve the screen take overs only for most important story points. Mechanically I think there could be some mini-game involved with gathering resources or combat. Maybe overheating the beam or some pattern thing for optimal usage.
Anyway I enjoyed it very much. Also I never saw GDevelop in action before.

23. Oct 2024 · 10:05 UTC
@titos2k If we made a bigger level, it could or if I changed things around a bit, dialogue wouldn’t need to interrupt. But with 72 hours, I couldn’t make sure there would be no issues without locking dialogue into cutscenes. It’s an unfortunate result of running out of time.

Same goes for any other suggestions really :P there just wasn’t time 🥲 but I hope you liked the game!

Wooah, this is great!

Love the graphics! And great use of a parallax background. It really helps making it feel like there's so much more down there to explore.

At first, the music felt like something I'd associate a bit more with space but at second thought, I think it really fits! Like ... deep sea and space exploration with those huge uncharted territories feel similar enough and kind of give off similar vibes??? idk kind of hard to explain.

Anyways, the music makes it feel like this is an adventure with so much wonderous stuff just waiting to be discovered. And when the music suddenly cuts off when this huge tonal shift happens and there's only those ambient sounds left and everything feels so unsettling all of a sudden? Really fits to show how this adventure turned into a nightmare.

Great storytelling!

@sockenpuppe Glad you liked the game!

Yeah, the deep sea and outer space are similar in the sense that we don't really know much about it. We also can't breathe there and need shuttles/submarines and special suits to navigate the space. Therefore, the music needs to reflect that ;) One way the music is different from space music, though is that it is slower and more flowy and features no bleep bloop sci-fi sounds. Paired with the walkie talkie voice and muffled underwater sound design, we aimed to create the feeling of being small in a vast space, in spite of the small level. Glad that came across! :D

The voice acting blew me away! At first I was surprised that there were voiced dialogue lines in a sort of retro-art direction game, but the earnestness of it paired with the beautiful music sucked me right in. Definitely a little light on gameplay, but I played through the whole experience to see where it would go. Poor research partner, maybe she shouldn't have been so trigger happy with lasering all the creatures :) Absolutely fantastic presentation, this is super super cool. I could see this expanding into a full atmospheric / horror experience if you wanted to take it further. Great job!

I have always wanted to try making something in GDevelop and with how good this was I might dip my toes in. This is everything I want from an entry bleeding with so much mood. Its well polished and I'm really impressed with the art and what you got done in the time frame. Great entry!

@wisstopher Gdevelop has some limitations when it comes to lighting (unless you want to expand the lighting functionality yourself) but I would recommend it. It's especially great for jam projects; you can get a lot of prototyping done very fast in my opinion.

Thank you for playing! :D
