Cutesy destroyer of worlds by Graham Weldon
This lovable monster is out to destroy the world. The humans will fight back. He's heavy, so the landscape rumbles and shakes when he moves.
Control your monster with the following:
- A, D = Left and Right
- Space = Jump
Jump on buildings to destroy them
Jump on humans to kill them
Killing humans will regenerate your health
Killing buildings will destroy the human spawners, there is one in each building!
What score can you get? Please post your high scores screenshots in comments!
Can you get to the end?

But in all honestly, that was quite fun! I like how the guns had a knockback effect, it added an extra challenge. Also, the leaderboard is a nice touch that you don't see in many LD games!
Some sounds would really liven up the game.
Physics are a little quirky but not too bad.
Also maybe increasing the amount of health you have but reducing the healing you get from kills a lot might be good since either I am at full healh or half dead most of the time.
Some sounds would make this better, absolutely.
@TerinHD - I think this has happened before, they're certainly prepared with all that firepower!
@OccamsRazor - I'm glad you like the highscores board. That was a last-hour addon :)
But I enjoyed playing it^^
"Monster smash puny humans!" (or maybe "Monster jettisoned into orbit by sustained fire by rifle toting humans!" ;-) )
The gameplay is simple and intuitive, killing people to get your health back is completely congruent to the premise and using platforms as cover is somewhat innovative, I found really interesting how the bullet impact kind of fucked up the physics, 2 times that I died it was because I didn't get to a platform in time and the citizens blasted me to the sky (shooting from below and the bullet impact wouldn't let me fall on them), an interesting twist but it gets quite unbalanced in later stages, mainly because of the lack of platforms and the exponentially growing number of citizens.
Also, I loved the implementation of the high score system, not entirely necessary since this is a compo, but the way you managed to make a solid game and this is a big plus, same thing for the game over menu and start menu.
The graphics are good, not anything amazing, but it really fits the game and adds greatly to the experience. Fun fact: we used the same font.
On the bad side, this game really would improve with some sounds, and using sfxr is not that time taking so you don't have an excuse, music, on other hand, is completely forgivable since your clearly invested in other qualities.
By the way, why pressing P turns me red?
The number of humans gets too high too quick, the pacing goes from almost none to covering the screen in 2 buildings...
Nice little game...
good job :)
