A mysterious auditory journey in an ancient temple. Dive deep inside, listen and discover all the creatures

STARDUST CREATURES is an atmospheric adventure game where you control a nameless character exploring a vibrant auditory ancient temple, inhabited by various sensory creatures. Heavily inspired by the amazing INSIDE by Playdead, we tried to construct an atmospheric experience that can be enjoyed by everyone.

  • Move with [↑][↓][←][→] / [W][S][A][D]
  • Jump with [SPACE] / (A on gamepad)
  • Grab with [CTRL] / (RT on gamepad)
  • Gamepads/controllers supported.

  • Playtime ~5 minutes.

  • Press [ESC] to access the pause menu and options.

Built during 72 hours for Ludum Dare 56 Game Jam. Made with Unreal Engine 5, AbletonLive, 3DSMax, Photoshop

All the content was crafted lovingly by us during the jam, including the 3d models, sound and music. We are using ALSv4 for the movement animations of the character. Let us know how do you like the whole sensory experience!

@endejck Thanks for the comment :)

Could you elaborate on the "Concept can be boosted with focused audio and atmosphere" It's actually what I tried to do with the sound design, maybe there is specifics points you would improve to make audio better ?

I'm not sure I fully understood the game... After I got a bunch of the 3 different creature types the camera panned down as if I passed the level, but then nothing happened... Anyhow, the graphics are awesome, controls are really good and fun to run around... I really liked everything I saw in this game, aesthetically very pleasing. Great job!

@peter-dam woops sounds like a bug! there's an additional very nice ending scene after you jump in the door, will investigate why it didn't trigger - thanks for playing and the kind words

@yoanntsitionis @kevin-meissner @warflame @endejck @deantwotwo @zyppi thanks for downloading, playing and your kind words! We really appreciate it - as it's not as frictionless and quick as a web build

YO thanks for making this guys! what a cool little game! I felt like the climbing up ledges was a weird break in how you feel you should flow with the airy feel to everything else, it's not something wrong but it was a bit of a vibe break? perhaps it's a case of just too many mantles in a row?
keep it up (please)

First time I've played this style of game. I don't think it will steal me away from FPS , but very well done!

5 Stars. This felt like the demo for a game I would buy. I loved the audio mood and the ambience. Loved the pretty visuals. Loved the exploration and puzzle solving. Loved the low-stakes "Walking Simulator" vibe.

Edited to add: On my first playthrough, at the end the screen just went black, like @peter-dam described. I think because I was standing in the portal when it opened the first time. I found the end scene on my second playthrough, by standing at the edge and waiting for the portal to finish transforming.

Beautiful soothing experience! I also didn't get the ending after the door but everything else went smoothly. I love the graphics and the rendering for the tiny flying creatures. The character movements are great and the environment is nice. Well done!

Beautiful game! The character animations were great, the ledge grab specifically felt really good. As someone who typically uses keyboard/mouse controls, I really wanted to be able to control the camera with the mouse, or at least show a little more of what's in front of the character when running "south"/towards the camera. But it definitely gives it a more ethereal vibe with the camera automatically zooming in/out facing the same direction. The unique sounds for the tiny creatures were very creative, and definitely added to the mood of the game. Awesome entry :)

Visuals are simple but pretty. I like such a low-poly 3D gfx.

Felt like a solid demo, but I don't know if I bugged out the ending when the hole give way and I fell? Just faded to black, then white after the span of a few minutes. No credits... regardless! Fun, immersive, and audio was well made!

Very cool explanation of the controls in the game, as well as coolly made credits. Atmosphere and sounds in the game are good, but I did not really understand what to do in the game, except for attracting butterflies

It's really cool. I wonder why there are not millions comments here. Visuals, music, idea, controls, everything in place.
