Cool pixelation effect and play with size-related objects)
May be too difficult, when you has one large red snake that kills you too fast
You need to check bullet creation script cuz sometimes when i shoot at bugs, damage did not registred

@custodi Yeah the projectiles and weapon stuff was pretty rushed probably because I spent a lot of the time on the player controls and environment lol. Thanks for the comment!

Pixel graphics on the 3D models work well for this! I REALLY love the camera transition from TPS to rolling around, and the character controls well.

That being said, the shooting straight up doesn't work half the time - the combat doesn't seem to work well at all either. The enemies look really cool but with no options that work well its a bit too tough.

Very ambitious project. You got a lot done!

As others have pointed out, the visuals are great. The game has an early-3D feel to it that I like. The Audio was"great" I'm putting that in quotations mark because I'm still sweating. That hissing sound made me yelp the first time I heard it and the spiders popped out behind me. Kept me uneasy the whole rest of the game too. Its got good horror potential. (Either that or I'm a scaredy-cat)

Only bombs help against the small red critters, they seem immune to the machine gun. Which makes it a lot harder. Graphics are really great. I could not get the seed on the mushrooms, as soon as you slow down the critters overwhelm you. Great atmosphere, feels like you get hunted. Are the wasps your friends? Looked like they attacked the critters.

Really cool game. Both of our games are kinda similar but I think yours turned out much better :)
Had a lot of fun rolling around and shooting stuff.

very fun.
that one jump at the cinder blocks feels impossible though. especially when you are beeing chased down.
the game crashed when i threw dynaite at a giant horde of insects. or maybe i pressed too many buttons at once.

i like that reloading takes some time. this brings some balance to it

What a great game! 🎮 I really liked the pixel art style and the atmosphere that creates a feeling of hunting. 🐍 The character controls are well done and the camera transitions add dynamics. 🔥 Great job! 👏

I did it, I got all the apple seeds, what a nailbiter finish. My final route was cup->stone next to big stump->in big stump on mushrooms->axe->cliffside->nest->rock->bushes next to rock->on top of cinder blocks (this one I blundered first, I had to go back because I didn't make the jump)->smaller holed out stump. I think I got lucky and the centipede got stuck. Was a full pacifist run as well, I thought about taking out the centipede (because when it sees you, it's basically over for you), but everyone managed to make it out alive.
Very cool game! I love the environment, I think it gives you that Pikmin vibe, with everyday objects in a large environment. The designs of the critters was very well-done as well. Not only visually, but also the sound design. There is a certain sense of dread when you hear the army of spiders approaching, that really got the blood pumping. There were cool physics mechanics in there. On thin I only noticed on later runs is that you can propel yourself with your own bomb, I never managed to get it working well in my runs, but there's some neat tech in there, I bet you could make that cinder block jump easier with that one. And of course rolling around as a beetle is fun, the physics did a great job of making that feel good as well. Very cool game, great job!

@captaindreamcast thanks for toughing it out and beating the game! It definitely isn't easy especially with some wonky gun mechanics and other issues so I give you props haha thanks for the review

Nice aesthetics! That mix of 3D with a retro style has its own unique charm. Gj!

Really well done for a Compo game! Unexpectedly scary when the bugs started chasing me. :grimacing: Always a fan of that chunky retro style, too. You made great use of sound design, the only thing I'd suggest is adding a bit of ambience next time. Even if there's not a full soundtrack, a "bed" of outdoor sounds so there aren't only sound effects _or_ silence would go a long way. But overall, a solid game!

Really impressed with this, your graphics are always so cool and I'm so jealous haha. I don't think I would get so scared when all the little bugs were chasing me, but here we are. The only thing I was missing was feedback on hitting them. Great entry!

Very cute, like the rolling and enemy designs. The rendering style and noise the smaller bugs make as they get closer are really cool. Reminds me of Bugdom lol
