Dev Notes:
Here we are for our 4th October Ludum Dare as a team :) This year we made a top-down, creature-roundup shooter~ We tried putting a lot more emphasis on polish like usual, and while we wanted to keep the scope down, we wanted to put in a lot of "simple things" that ended up being overscoped in and of itself.
Pete: appreciate all the love and feedback from the music, with the ratings coming out soon I wanted to share the fully realized soundtrack of the game! Link down below!
Issues:
- ~~We noticed that the difficulty scaling is not working like it should. We have another enemy but it's incredibly unlikely to encounter him to the point no one is.~~
- ~~Also our clock timer is short, like us testing a game run short. We didn't intend it that short either.~~
- ~~Also it seems like we're having difficulty get the right resolution / screen size and aren't understanding the web export's full screen functionality. Please be patient with us!~~
- Web export's audio pops. There are interruptions, not sure if that's a fixable issue. Uploading an executable soon so people can enjoy it standalone if they like! Our template supports exe's with a fullscreen button that's just hidden for web export.
Fixes:
- Barely touched difficulty scaling, just added 2 other minutes to the clock timer and that fixes most of the issues. People should be able to encounter the previously mentioned rare enemy! Rare, but encounterable!
- Figured out itch's resolution settings! The game should able to be enjoyed as intended with the proper resolution size.
- Fixed walking off the world to the right.
- Fixed some minor visual glitches.

I wish that having a line of friends behind me would give me some sort of bonus effect so that the player would have to make a choice between keeping them behind the player or sending them back to the safe zone :)
Stunning art, fun and simple gameplay loop, absolutely love it ^^
And about game, I like the artstyle! The creatures are so cute and the main charatcer also! I would get merch with it if it was there. The game is simple and clear, and most importantly without complex mechanics. The game has everything you need in three days and as an idea it can be further developed. Perhaps only a few different types of enemies were missing to complicate the task a bit, but still everything is wonderful!
I really liked the aesthetic. The art is beautiful! I kind of wished it was zoomed in a bit more, so I could see the friends i was rescuing.
The gameplay loop was very solid. I liked the quick runs, and corralling your sprites back to the glade was very nice feedback that you're doing well. The tutorial was very sleek, and the haptics on shooting was a nice touch.
I did notice that you could walk off the map around the center-right wall, did you have other locations planned?
Great game!
Please take a look and see if it's to your liking!
Please try it now!
It might make it into the post-jam version, we plan to expand since this may be our proudest one yet!

The second type of enemy is very deadly xD
Great job :) I had a lot of fun playing, and I think I could spend a lot more time on this on an expanded version.

I love the coffee-stained look of the background and the overall aesthetics. Games like these always make me wish to make games with such art rather than the pixelart ones we tend to do. Overall, great entry be proud!
Other than that felt super polished and the little dings when delivering the friends was a cherry on top. Great job!
In the later stage of the game, the stone enemies were too sticky and made it a bit frustrating.
Awesome submission overall, good job!
Also thank you very much for your Feedback!

The blocky enemies just wiped out like twenty at once T_T.
The game is very cute, the itch.io page especially!
I find that there are some discrepancies in quality in between things of the same kind. Eg the flash on hit is great, but it's lacking some simple particles & sounds to really make the hits feel great. Enemy death anim is really cool looking, but the gun fire anim is meh. Looks to me like you spend too much time on some specific things trying to make them too good, and then run out of time to polish the rest. If you can fix this, your next entries will really feel amazing to play. Now I don't mean to say that it's bad now, it's really good already. Congrats!
I love the calming, melancholic music, and how it becomes more intense as you progress. Very cool.
I couldn't resist doing a conga with my tiny friends.

I was having so much fun that I forgot to bring them back home. Look at all the friends I saved!
