(o o) by zimonitrome

(o o) is an ASCII bullet hell game that is rendered entirely in the HTML DOM.
Play with W, A, S, D to move around.
Avoid enemies, and have fun!
Score is based on time + amount of bullets fired by enemies. So baiting is key!

Would've been much more fun for me if i could make the guys shoot each other for extra points haha
Would be nice to be able to pick up guns or powerups yourself as well.
Simple bullet-hell game, nothing more.
Good job!
Catchy tune, by the way !
Really like the ASCII Art, in particular the shaking effect when you get hit. Impressive that you made this whole game in 48 hours, including an online highscore system! (smart how you did it through Google Sheets :D)
Some inputs:
- Felt very rewarding to "grind" more points by letting them shoot at you! Clearly the blue enemies are the worst since they're the only ones not firing straight at you, so moving sideways can get tricky with them.
- It was not so clear to me that I couldn't shoot. Maybe a little clarification in the initial screen could've made that more obvious to me.
- If you had more content, something to recover lives would be great. But I assume this was a considerate design decision so that you can't survive forever.
I am indeed happy with how the "grind" was rewarding.
I did (and still do) have a lot of problems with the Google Sheets interface. Sorry that your score was lost :/ I suspect that if two players submit score at close enough time, one might not be recorded. It's free and easy but might be good to have something better for my next project!
I had a lot more features planned but ran short of time... clarity would be one of them and powerups indeed!
I love ascii based games, and was a very interesting take. The smoothness of the movement & the rotation when the character gets hit was very nice.
There's a faint shadow on the legs when moving, not sure if this was intended or not - but it looked like a bug when playing.
Overall, really good mate, good work!

*a bit laggy when they all shoot at the same time 😅*
Also, great idea for a scoring system, it really made me attempt more risky moves, just to get more points. My PB is 1187 after playing a couple of times.
Sometimes the enemies get sneaky and hide behind the wall and shoot you. That's the only issue I found.
Good luck with your future projects!
Overall, this is an awesome entry. It's one of my favourites so far I'd say, well done!!!

I thought the difficulty ramped up at a really nice pace. Great work!
Thanks @daminator4113. I'd say it gets A LOT laggy at some point haha. I even had to shrink the game stage to remove more bullets haha. This would be a challenge to solve if I ever did this again!
I didn't read the description beforehand, but the game got a lot more interesting once I realized that each bullet fired was another point. The best strategy I found was to rope the red and black (o o) into the middle and circle around them continuously to rack up bullets fired. And also make sure I never got too close to the edge so they wouldn't spawn on top of me.
The main obstacle was dodging the blue (o o) because they didn't move much, so roping them into the middle with the rest of the herd wasn't possible. In that sense, how good I did was somewhat tied to the ratio of blue to red (o o) I got in a given round.
Anyway, got second (⌐■_■)

Good job for you game ;)
Most "gimmicky" games that get submitted to Ludum Dare aren't much more than
the gimmick, but in this case the game is quite good even before you consider
how it was made. Congrats!
