Blobs III by pschichtel

[raw]
made by pschichtel for Ludum Dare 56 (JAM)

Hi everyone!

we are a small german team and we've built a multiplayer game about delicate cell-like creatures moving around in a larger organism, trying to grow bigger. However, your creation is not the only one around and you might end up as food for other Tiny Creatures. Moving around is exhausting, make sure you keep feeding on your peers.

The controls are simple: Click join to join an existing game or you will automatically start a new game. The creature can be moved using your arrow keys and space to dash forward.

Notes

  • If you feel like the game is stuck (you can't move, you can't respawn, you don't see anything else moving, ...) just exit and restart the game.
  • You might be randomly selected to host a multiplayer session for up to 31 other players. These other players will be able to see you public IP address.
  • The game uses WebRTC connections without proxies, some restrictive networks will not support this.

🎮 Controls 🎮

Keyboard

arrow keys/WASD: move around

space: dash

R: respawn (if dead only)

Steam Deck / XBox Controller / ...

left-joystick: move around

A: dash

X: respawn (if dead only)

Web-Version

On the surface nothing seems to prevent a web version of this game, networking, graphics and controls would all work fine, unfortunate Godot 4.x does not yet support web exports when using C# scripting.

Interesting game! I enjoy this one and the little creatures are so cute. However, the AI enimies seems a little bit slow to me. When I am walking around a much larger AI creature, that AI creature will not catch me. If we can have a stronger enemies in this game, it will be more exciting and challenging! (BTW, I also have a jam game, and if you can leave your valuable suggestion to us, we would be very grateful, thx!! )

Hey , so the game is clearly a inspiration from Agar.io, but it kinda fits the theme so i won't blame you for that , its fun , for thhe first 2 mins , but once you get to a certain size, it doesnt feel you scale much more, anyways , had a blast trying out this game, maybe on the future add your own twist to it and im sure it will do great :0

@shallowkong Blobs get slower as they grow larger.
To not snowball AI enemies actually wont grow much larger than the largest player on that server.
The game is multiplayer so for a good challenge find yourself another human.

Nice game! It felt great being the largest blob. I just wished the AI offered a bit more of a challenge, but overall, I really enjoyed playing it.

Thanks! This was really fun. It’s a super cool IO-style game, and I had a great time playing. The graphics and sounds are nice, the vibe is awesome, and unlocking new colors kept me motivated to play longer!
