Fluto by pataya

made by pataya for Ludum Dare 56 (JAM)

Explore, find Oompets and build your town with music!

In Fluto, you play as a wandering musician in a forest full of tiny creatures called Oompets. If you play music to them, they will join your little orchestra and help you build your town. Relax, sit back and enjoy the melodies & rhythms that play as you gather resources, create new buildings and walk around the not-so-quiet forest.

This is super cute, I love the way the graphics is polished without being overwhelming. I wish the map was bigger or maybe even procedurally generated. Would love to see a post-jam version of the game with even more structures

I am really impressed with the audio in this, the fact that all the Oompets create a nice tune in any combination is very cool. And I also found the graphics cute and effective, and enjoyed the simple gameplay.

This game is so much fun! It accomplishes things I thought of but couldn't do myself. The atmosphere is fantastic, and I really love it.

Neat little game. Very cute. Not sure how to actually progress after getting a big group of little creatures following me (it says something about "assigning" them to things, but doesn't say how to do that or what that does). I really like the music, and the visuals and gameplay are really well done.

Awesome little game! Had a lot of fun player it. It really unique. The art, game design, and music just all fit seamlessly. it could use more instructions on the page I feel, just to say gather your tiny creatures & go to the crystals to gain the reasons. Amazing Job!

At first glance I thought the game was a little similar to Pikmin but after getting into the game and engaging with the mechanics its very apparent that you took that small starting mechanic and brought it to life with the sounds and created a completely different mood and feel. I was able to sit back and enjoy all the aspects of the game working so seamlessly together as the art, music and simple but engaging gameplay all worked to create a really fun game.

As is normal with Game Jam entries I wish there was more to experience but this game in particular feels like a great base for additions down the line if you wanted to come back to the project which I always feel means a successful Jam entry.

Overall very fun experience and a nice surprise when downloading and playing. Really impressive entry.

The music and how it is connected to the gameplay are simply magnificent! It was very enjoyable to play the game and just walk around. I really liked the creature collection mechanics. Great job!

For now, it's the most beautiful game I've seen from this jam, it's really well done! The gameplay is original and satisfying, and the music that builds up progressively is great. I'm just not sure I understood the final goal of the game. Also, I encountered a small bug when clicking several times on the construction icons. I couldn't remove the blueprint afterwards.

Woah this game is awesome! The visuals are so smooth and fit the world well. The day and night cycles are great for expressing the passage of time. It's easy to get lost in guiding around the little guys [:

I want to hold them all in my arms like my own personal army of children. These little guys changed my life, and I have learned empathy. Very good game, with very charming graphics. I wish there was a greater variety of buildings to make

As other have said, very nice art and core concept. I feel there's a lot more you were not able to finish as the sense of progression is there but it currently lacks reason.

Wow what a wonderful, whimsical game - the art style grabbed me instantly! Making a tactics game be about music and vibe is great! Even just chillin in the forest with my little friends was great, and to build on that with some city management makes it so much more. There's probably more in here to explore! Great game!

This game is impossibly adorable. It took me a little while to be able to tell if my Oompets were listening to me but once I got the hang of it, I was in love. Incredible art style and the audio is subtle but well-done. Great entry!! I want some Oompet friends for myself now!

Yay I found it! You should link to your LD56 page on itch.io in case people found your game on itch first (like me)! Amazing game tbh. The art style is lovely and the concept is so endearing! Making your own music is so satisying and I like that when you eventually get the band toether, you don't need to click to see, their music lights the way for you!

Very very nice game, especially on the mood side. I loved the way sounds / music and light were tied, and the farming mechanics were simple yet engaging enough.
I'm just not sure what my goal was? Once I established farms all around I would have loved it if there was some sort of ending. Great game anyway!

I made sure there was light everywhere so they are never in the dark again because musicians deserve a nice place to live <3
Thanks for this great time you provided, and well done! It's adorable and the day/night cycle was a nice surprise that was particularly fitting. Loved your tiny creatures <3

this game is a 10 out of 10 perfect piece of art (wish i could rate it a 10). i was in tears playing in just because how beautiful it is, and how much it reminds me of the pure joy of playing.
love the sample art style, and how you incorporate music with gameplay.

Genius game! I particularly like the setting where music can illuminate the environment, and the instruments of each small animal are perfectly coordinated. Simple art, but with a great sense of atmosphere. It's also fitting that the creatures play drums while building. The only suggestion is that I wish I had the opportunity to deselect the building after I select it.

Love the visuals and mood of this! Tying the music with the creatures and actions is really nice. Even though I didn't quite understand the mechanics, I enjoyed the atmosphere and growing my little band!

The musical bleep bloops are quite nice and add to the charm of the game. Kudos for adding a day/night cycle and using musical notes as a kind of currency in a way I have not seen before. It is a strange and really neat experience.

One of my favourites of this jam! Loved audio, visuals, atmosphere, and gameplay was addictive too. The only thing I didn't understand was is there any end goal at all or is it just building my flute empire until I get bored???

Cute and groovy! I really liked the visuals, with the simple shapes and the harmonious colors.

The music was super cool and very relaxing to listen to. The generative melodies were beautiful and you've done a great job making the parts that the different creatures play fit together.

This was such a chill experience. I started playing it before reading the page and thought the darkness would kill me, so I kept playing music and hoping I wouldn't run out of breath 😅😅😅 Then when I read the text I understood the game and had a lovely time with it :D

I love the way you gather and send the oompets to work, and how over time the whole area is full of light and new oompets!
