Sheeplings by jnur

Herd your dear tiny sheep safely through tranquil and totally safe fields.

The goal in each of the four levels is to command your sheep to the goal. Try to keep as many as alive as you can, but saving just one is enough to pass to the next level.

Command your sheep!

Avoid dangers!

Controls:

Movement: WASD / Arrows

Jump: Space

Interact: F

Reset Level: R

Sheep commands:

Jump: J / C / Middle Mouse Button

Stop: K / Z / Right Mouse Button

Go: L / X / Left Mouse Button

Notes:

  • A level is completed when every sheep is either dead or in the goal area. This means that levels can become soft locked (for example, if sheep are left alive in a spot where you can't command them anymore). If you think you're stuck, press R.
  • The sheep sometimes behave in silly and unpredictable ways. These are definitely not bugs, but just sheep doing sheep things.
  • There is no audio, so don't waste your time fiddling with your speakers. Left sounds last as per usual, and didn't end up having time to create or find anything.

I really like this game! Very creative, even getting some sheeps stuck in the walls was fun :).
You should really add some pictures on your page to attract more people.

The rules are simple, yet it's really fun and addictive! It's challenging but fair, and the level endings are really satisfying :)

i liked when my sheep decided to stick to the ceiling, it's just chill like that. very funny game, the controls are a bit iffy, but definitely add to the fun!

@mogmi Thanks! And thanks for reminding me about the screenshots, will add more later :)

@sp1d3rb0y Thanks, I was wondering if the effort put into those end screens was worth it

@detectivedirk Thanks! Yeah, I kinda thought that the chaos of the controls was almost more of a positive than a negative. Makes it feel like what I imagine actual herding must be like.

(PS. the "sheep stick to ceilings" ~~bug~~ feature was a last minute fix to the sheep clipping through ceilings - I'd rather have spider sheep running on ceilings than ghost sheep going through solid walls)

This is a really nice puzzle game, visual design looks good and even when the sheep do something silly it's more funny than anything else.

I love the pixel art! Controlling a platformer while keeping an eye on the sheep is a cool idea and made for a fun challenge

Very good game. I liked being able to continue despite the loss of some sheep ^^.

This is hilarious and innovative. I could see this somehow being a phone app or a bigger indie game!

i had a good bit of fun with this one. the sheep were super cute. some really nice puzzle mechanics. i liked the dual controls, really added to the puzzle aspect. the death and level complete screens were a nice touch. Rest in peace to all the sheep i lost along the way haha. well done

Really smart and fun idea and well implemented!! The art is fantastic as well. A very cohesive, singular design.

If I had one complaint, it's that the middle mouse input can be finicky in browser because the auto-scroll gets enabled, but that's purely a nit-pick because you've already got alternate key-bound controls that work really well :)

Fun game! love command aspect of the game -- and that there is some proximity logic for which sheep obey the commands, that must have been interesting to code!
