The Witch's Offspring by little-crow-heart
[I noticed that the web version on this site doesn't work. Please use the itch.io link to play this game.] https://little-crow-heart.itch.io/the-witchs-offspring

When you accidently shrink yourself, you need to cross the garden to get to youre witch mother for help. Tiny magical mushrooms show you the way.

This is my second solo jam for Ludum Dare (the first is on my old account). I'm still new to coding in Godot, but I'm trying my best with what I know (which is not much). After the rating, I'd like to update this game with: - Audio (there is none) - more little creatures like frogs, ladybugs etc. - replacing the sketches with more finished work - dialogue along the way with the little mushrooms - options menu - checkpoints - level reset/ respawn - background - screen size

Even tho I know that there is a lot wrong with this game and I still need to learn how to properly code, I'm open to feedback.

Thank you for playing! ^^

It looks like I fell forever after missing a lillipad on my first attempt, but when I tried again I could see the ending!
Congrats on your submission. Please keep working on this game and participating in future jams!
I put the respawn/reset and checkpoints on my to-do list, so that the version after the ratings won't have an endless fall xd Audio will also be added in the new version (but I will only publish it after the ratings to keep things fair)
Again thank you for your kind words and suggestions! ^^
I think your controls could be a bit snappier. The character feels quite floaty you can try to play with the amount of gravity for that, there are some great Youtube videos on that subject if you search for "good 2D platformer controlls" or something similar. But very nice work so far, especially for being new to the engine
And I think you can delete the embedding on this site if it doesn't work
in Project Settings -> Display -> Window
Godot 4: set Stretch mode to 'viewport'
Godot 3: set Stretch mode to '2d' and Aspect to 'keep'
i didn't know about being able to delete it. it's gone now. thank you again ^^
also thank you for the art compliment! <3
One small piece of advice I'd give is to try to think about how the experience will be for the player a bit more. In your case, even just mapping one button to put the player back at the start would make a big difference, so that anyone who falls off won't have to refresh the whole game, and let it reload.
I really liked the little drawings and story-boarding, they were very cute! I hope you get to continue to make stuff.
Otherwise, congrats on your second solo jam!

Thank you for the feedback, the encouragements and for playing! ^^
my first solo was actually raster art (it was a visual novel with some mini games). I was actually thinking about making this one illustrated too but i worried that I will run out of time because I'm alone ^^'
again thank u for he feedback! <3
I'm looking forward to see the finished game° :)
I'm on a 1920x10 screen on Chrome.
My friend has the same setup.

The game would need some polish to feel completely achieved, but this is a good base! Carry on!
Well done!
oh and I LOVED the scene in which the mother holds her daughter because it resembled a drawing me and a friend did a long time ago ( so this is definitely a memorable entry for me :) )

your drawing is very cute <3 I'm glad you liked the game
The falling animation stood out to me as a particularly good bit of the in-game art!
The sketches were not intented like that ^^' I was just running out of time. I'm planning to redo them in a children's book illustrations kind of style.. with more texture and more pencil like brushes.
I'm proud to say that checkpoints and respawn is already in the newer version and they are working :D (also added some glass shards and thorns for obstacles)
and thank you again, I'm glad the endless fall is at least nice to look at  <3
