This Blasted Mine by Pincushion

[raw]
made by Pincushion for Ludum Dare 57 (COMPO)

A puzzle game where you set a blast sequence to mine. Clear all tiles with a single detonation.

Controls

  • Only requires a mouse. Move and left-click.
  • Press "m" to toggle sound

Gameplay

The goal is to clear all the tiles using a limited amount of dynamite: - Toggle the placement of dynamite by clicking on tiles. - Click "Detonate" (upper-left corner) to execute your blast sequence. Dynamite will explode in the order shown on the left side of the screen. - Selected dynamite will be at the bottom of the blast sequence by default. Click the arrows to reorder. Hover over the icons to highlight the dynamite on the board.

Notes

  • Web build is buggy, so I didn't post it. I'll try to fix it so the game's more accessible. For now, there's only a Windows build.

Nice puzzle game! Good job on making the puzzles increase in difficulty in a way that is fun and interesting.

Made it to level 7. Thanks for the game!

Really fun concept! My only thought for something you could add outside of the game jam would be a game speed slider that increases the speed of the explosions, a couple of these were breaking my brain so it took me a while to retry every time. Really great work!

@zirrrus Appreciate the feedback.

@baknik Level 7's a tough one.

@sicosiber That's a great idea. The time adds up.

@khaotom Glad you made it through! :tada:

Thanks for playing!

Cool concept, the difficulty rise is linear and natural which isn't easy for a puzzle game, so kudos. Definitely agree with @sicosiber though, a speed slider would be a really nice QOL addition

Like reversed minesweeper, cool! A very nice puzzle, the gameplay feels great. Can't rate visual and audio too high, but for the jam it's very nice.

That was good fun. Strangely I found level two the hardest. I'm always impressed when people make puzzle games like this for a jam as the puzzles must be really hard to devise in the timeframe, so defo hats of for that. Good stuff :8ball:

When I first saw the cover and screenshots of the game, I was a bit hesitant... but it turned out to be a really nice surprise!

I like the concept a lot. With some added responsiveness and a more cartoony visual style, I could totally see this working well as a mobile puzzle game.

Also, just a heads-up: this is the first time a game has made my computer fans go full speed. There might be some optimization issues, which could also explain why it doesn't run on the web.

Good luck in the future, and great job overall! I really enjoyed playing your game.

I beat all the levels. Good puzzles! Two thoughts:
- I'd like it if the 4 dynamites were different colors or something so I can tell them apart without hovering
- The background music seemed to cut out part way through while I was playing. This could just be because I was running under wine, though.

I won! I think the game could use faster explosions, a clearer way to see where the placed bomb is going to blow up, a quicker way to restart the level, and—since the order of the TNT matters, numbers on each TNT. Even without those things, it’s still a fun little game! Well done!!

@leophyte I agree it needs a way to speed up the explosions. Appreciate the feedback. Appreciate the kudos :)

@heiden-bzr Thanks! Minesweeper's the inspiration. I inverted it because minesweeper already existed :)

@oddballdave Appreciate the feedback on level 2.

@fullbuff I see the performance issue on my gpu too when I play the built copy. It's not an issue in the Unity editor. Weird, I might dig in out of curiosity. Thanks for the feedback.

@henk That's great feedback having them different colors. I bet it's an easy adjustment too. The music does cut out. I think I forgot to set it to loop... Good job beating it :star:

@she-wrote Thanks for the feedback. Agree with it all. Thanks for playing to the end :tada:

Thanks all for playing! Really appreciate the great feedback.

It is a very fun puzzle game.

A small suggestion, perhaps a hint after so may tries would be appropriate. Maybe place on of the dynamite packets where its is supposed to go

Anyway, thank you for the play.

Loved this, such an interesting puzzle game, great entry. It was a little fiddly reordering the dynamite, and my only other problem is that I ran out of content :stuck_out_tongue: . Well done!

Cool little puzzle game. It was straight forward to understand, but also had enough depth that I had to think about each of the puzzles, and the solutions weren't super obvious right away. I also liked the added complexity from the moving tiles, and ones that required multiple hits. I also really enjoyed the soundtrack, and was sad when it didn't loop. I was getting into the funky groove while I was blasting through the mine. I think you have a solid foundation to build upon here. I could see this being really fun with more levels and more tiles. Great work!!!

Ooooh I agree with the other comments that this is a fantastic foundation to build from. The game was very fun in this state, and you have an awesome eye for making puzzles! If you wanted to keep going with this, I bet it would turn into something awesome, nice work!

Excellent puzzle game. Lots of fun trying the dynamite in different locations to see the result.

Really great fun! I think the main mechanic here is really great. My only feedback is that it would be great if the explosions happened a bit faster, but while still clearly showing the order of operations.![Screenshot 2025-04-25 110204.png](///raw/2c7/c/z/6c77e.png)
