Down Wheel by neowhoru
Welcome to Down Wheel a small platforming game where you go down in weired caves and worlds.
Explore the rabbit hole by going down with your electric wheelchair. But be careful - it is dangerous to go down.
Controls: LEFT / RIGHT = Movement Space = Jump X = Dash
Oh and underwater you can "jump" as often you want.
Can you reach the end ?

The idea is good, just probably takes someone better at platformers to enjoy it.
One thing that it did take me a bit to realise in the first room was that you need to dash then jump, rather than jump then dash.
Also, I think I got soft locked in the water level in this location on my first playthrough. Can't jump out or die. Had to restart.

Loved the music change when entering different zones, and the pixelart is nice!
The pink levels are haaaaaaaaaard (but gotta love challenging games!) Maybe the spikes hitbox could do with a liiiittle bit of tolerance?

@absolute-garbage Thx - yeah you need to smash the jump button onground in water..thats a bit confusing..need to fix adjust this a bit.
@ricesteam yeah :D
@vsha-s-kovralina hey np - this game is a bit hard :) Hope you had some fun tho.
i think its a bit inspired by celeste as i am playing currently 7c lol :joy:
I also had weak the harder levels a bit (made them more fair ..i hope i got it).
Either way, I'll try again with the embed on my desktop later.
I just wish I didn't suck so bad at these games haha. I died way too many times, and I admit, I didn't manage to finish the entire game.
I'm not a platformer person, but in terms of levels/zones:
First level seemed odd that the hardest part was at the beginning, then the rest was controlled falls.
Second level seemed similar at first, but then the last checkpoint was really nasty. I ended up getting through it with patience.
Third level: I encountered the same apparent softlock but realized that if I hit it while moving right and mashing space I could make the hop. Still, needs a tweak since the jump feels even less effective in that spot than it did in the actual water level. After that, I got stuck at within that first area, with the tight jump horizontal jump and the saw at the corner. I know that with a well timed jump dash I could probably clear it, but since I'm not a platformer person, I gave up after 10-15 tries maybe.
Other than level design, I really liked the art and the extra bits like the water effect and bubble coming from the character. I personally didn't like the music, found it a bit to grating and repetitive after a few minutes, but maybe that's just the NES style and not your fault.
Overall nice game!
Art is fantastic, level design was great (at least as far as I made it), the only thing that might feel a bit repetitive after dying so many times is the music, but other than that I enjoyed it all around.
Voted! Great entry ♥
Good art and nice gameplay! I hope this young lady make it to the home ^_^
The pixel graphics are nice and the sounds are fun. I really liked the different environments with different gravity. The music is a bit annoying though, too many high notes and too repetitive.
My main critique is the respawn time being a tad too long.
Unfortunately I reached a point in the underwater world where I became invisible on entering a new screen. By pressing the arrow keys the camera went further down the tunnel at a high speed until it stopped.

Keep it up!
also : When you dash from right to left, the sprites still are facing right
Lost some lives on the pink-ish biome as well, but I did it! :sunglasses:
Loved the palette, and the challenge!
Great job!

If you tweaked post-compo, tweaking the hitboxes on the spikes would make it more forgiving , and perhaps a slower acceleration ramp for the precise moves. There were times, especially in the initial brown zone where the player didn't appear to be hitting the spikes, say if adjacent to a wall with spikes on top, but would explode anyway.

Also, I managed to get stuck in the area where you leave the water, after dying I was spamming dash and apparently dashed over the top of the map or something, and physics just pushed me down outside the map (I assume, because the camera followed me down a bit then stopped)
Overall, still a pretty fun game. Volume settings would be nice to have, but I just turned down my headphones quite a bit since the sounds were a bit loud. Good job though :)
