Earthcore Prominence by Lou Tremolieres

[raw]
made by Lou Tremolieres for Ludum Dare 57 (JAM)

A long time ago, before men stepped upon this planet, before gods established their pantheons, before consciousness grazed the Earth, there was you.

There you were , staring at a vast blue, cold surface, carrying fire. You, responsible for lighting the core of this enormous, very wet rock, were going to bring human life to it. You held the fire at the end of your staff, ready to ignite the center most part of Earth, ready to fuel movement in very ground you stood on.

And not unlike Prometheus would one day defy great dangers to bring fire to men, you were about to dive deep into this tunnel and face the many dangers roaming, swimming around hungry for a snack...

The game is really cool, specially the art !

Some mobs are a little buggy though , a lantern fish went right into the wall, above some tiles, under others.

Apart from that the gameplay is cool

Simple and fun gameplay/exploration. The movement of some fish seemed a little buggy. Some fish was also hard to kill as they were too close too fast :) Nice entry.

This game is a kind of room roamer, I like it.
The blue fish have a bit fast bullets.
Overall nice, I liked the background shader, and the character art in general. Gameplay is cool too.

Thank you for trying out the game!
@the-cellist @attala we know about the wacky collisions, this is the first time we are doing it with a tilemap so we still have some bugs to fix 🤣

@gwendalg @lucasito thank you! Happy you like it, we are planning some balancing on the damage output and inputs. Especially for mobs that can snipe you from afar!

Really nice game, some ennemies were sniping me out of screen so it was a bit hard, but still really fun

The art and setting were cool, it was pretty hard though, the camera does not follow you very well and it is hard to avoid projectiles.

Very atmospheric game with some lovely music! I do think the screen's movement was a bit slow, so I'd end up swimming into enemy encounters I wasn't ready to tackle. Combat felt good, though, and the enemy scaling felt natural. Good stuff!

The art style and the music gave the game a really nice atmosphere. I liked the variety of enemies. Only problem I had was the water pattern that shows over the screen made me feel dizzy so I couldn't play for very long. I had fun with what I did manage to play though

I like the art and the music... The gameplay itself could use some work. I got to the end, but I really wish when the doors close behind you and you enter a fight, the camera would focus on the enemies. They got the attack me before I could even see them far too many times, and it was pretty frustrating. Thankfully failure wasn't punished too hard, but it feels like it would be fine if it did, given the game were fairer. Curiously though, there were also plenty of times where *they* wouldn't see *me* and I freely attacked them under no threat.

Good work on this entry. :) I do wonder who our traveling hero(ine?) is.
