KARVINA

About

KARVINA is a game about being a diver with one task - to find and retrieve an artifact from a flooded mine. Who knows what you will find down there, or what will find you. Be ready to dive into the darkness.

How to play

  • Explore the mine, but be aware that you only have a limited amount of oxygen.
  • Your suit can also be damaged, causing you to lose oxygen faster than usual.
  • Look for strange crystals growing from the walls as they may lead you to oxygen caches.
  • You are equipped with a harpoon, who knows when you will need it.

Caution

  • Please do not resize the window in this version, we will fix the UI after the jam. We just didn't solve it in time.

Errata

  • Controls: hold left-mouse-button for precision aim

The .pck file is missing. We'll fix it in the morning.
EDIT: done, deleted the .exe and uploaded .zip

Solid entry  Some kind of a crosshair would have been good, the shooting was kinda hard.

I finished the game — that cold one was totally worth it.

@elq, thanks for the feedback!

fyi:you can hold the left-mouse-button for precision aim. it was late addition so it unfortunately ins't part of the controls introduction at the beginning

Cool gameplay man, but I do need pointer in idk sprite2D as a cue? I have astigmatism, can't shoot straight lol

Ugh, it's a pretty stressful experience, I almost got a panic attack, and this breathing is so scary... You've created a wonderful vibe!

Nice and atmospheric feel to it, cool game and very fun! I was going to do a diving game for mine but I'd already done one for Ludum Dare 48, Ocean Diver so I tried something else lol.

@hernandack good point, we did not think of that one. Thanks for bringing this up, we will add it back in the post-jam update.

Cool game, though I couldn't find more than the second oxygen supply and kept running out (I feel like I missed something).

As others said, crosshair should be here especially since the rotation amount depends greatly on how close the cursor is to the player, but can't tell how close it is if all we know is the angle (and only when in front of the player). Perhaps an indicator at the cursor position, but also a toggleable line for the fire direction (for variable difficulty) would be nice.

Also, a tip when exporting with Godot: you can check the "Embed PCK" option under "Binary Format" in the export preset settings, to make it just the single exe without the need for a separate PCK. I don't know why they don't check that by default...

Also, I noticed you had an icon for the exe, but could also set the icon under Project Settings so it shows the same on the Window too ;)

Really liked Karvina, very tense. The tight corridors & limited combat helped keep tension high. The breathing sounds were a nice touch & helped really sell it.

Hi. The idea is cool as a game as well. Maybe some screenshots and video on the main page could involve more players

Like the combination of map design and light. Sometimes it is hard to find the path and sometimes even scary if the path is tight. Shooting mechanic feels a bit excessive because it is hard to aim without mouse cursor (maybe bugged?) and easier to outmanuever enemies. They still create pressure if you choose the wrong way but at lest dont engage from down belows. Overall liked the tension
