DEPTHS OF HUNGER by Poppy Entertainment

[raw]
made by Poppy Entertainment for Ludum Dare 57 (JAM)

Hunger is it's name, the name of the monster. In this exploration game you are not going to explore the depths of a cave or the sea, but the depths of a ancient space creature. You will find a tutorial in the game, But just to make sure: - move around the ship with a/d - go up and down the ladder with w/s - lock in with the objects with F, it locks out automatically if you move - follow the tooltips to use the objects this is the first time i have worked with an actual team and the game is massive, thanks a lot guy's. There is also a small boss, so remember that eyes don't like touching things. i made a small graphical fix and uploaded a windows build on itch.io Screenshot (1).pngScreenshot (5).pngScreenshot (6).png

the starting sequence with dodging the tentacles was a bit brutal while figuring out the controls
the art of inside the spaceship was really nice !

This was pretty cool! The spaceship art was nice, as was the character. I really dig the textures used for the background of the body - even though they stretch out, that seems to add to the look of it being inside a murky body, which is really effective.

Really liked the split window approach, with the one side being the controls. Also, the use of lighting was great - it was nice seeing it as a core mechanic for the second bit!

Took me about half an hour to get to the red blood cells bit, at which point it became a bit too hard too get past. This game definitely requires a lot of patience! Great effort

Love the little intro animation and the art in game is great too (love the character). Super cool concept too

An unusual mechanic — I made it to the bloodstream, and it got challenging from there. The minimalist boat design is neat, but the controls really make you stretch both your brain and fingers. Still, I have to praise the core mechanic and the split-screen concept.

Controlling the ship is quite hard.

Interesting game concept, controls were sometimes hard but it felt really nice, maybe making the game coop would be more interesting since you would have to navigate with others how to move. Only problem with coop games is that most people rate games alone so you wouldn't get most accurate feedback (happened to us this jam)

The graphics, audio and theme are great, but it is a bit stressful to keep moving the ship, an unique mechanic but it is quite hard. However, the game is pretty cool! I can learn a lot from this.

I liked the art and the music. It felt quite creepy which gave it a cool atmosphere. I struggled with controlling the ship which made it a bit frustrating at points but it was fun to play

This reminded me of 'Lovers in a dangerous spacetime' game :)

There’s a bit of a mismatch between the ship’s exterior and its two-story interior, but it doesn’t hinder gameplay. The oppressive atmosphere pulls you deeper as you go.

Really liked the music and atmosphere. Great use of the theme. As the last person mentioned it also reminded me of ‘Lovers in a dangerous spacetime’ which is a really interesting concept. Nice job!
