Yellow-But-Legally-Distinct Submarine by ThisIsSpy
Welcome to Yellow-But-Legally-Distinct Submarine, where you control a yellow submarine (duh) and collect stuff to get high scores while avoiding underwater mines!
This is my first time particapating in a Compo so I decided to go with a simple idea but I hope it's not too simple for you guys. Everything was done by me, all the art was drawn by hand on the touchpad of my laptop in paint.net, the ear-destroying music was made in MilkyTracker and the beautiful SFX was done with sfxr. Hope you enjoy!
Recommended to play in fullscreen
Controls:
Move your mouse to control the direction in which the submarine moves
Press Space to speed up the submarine, rapidly press Space to go super fast

I have a good record, don't I?
final score 28650
depth record 104m
who can do better :)
Nice Game ! Was really fun going through the ocean looking for everything that shouldn't be there.
I would maybe have make the item that give a lot of point deeper in the ocean (Like the nuclear waste), but it was nonetheless really fun.
Continue in this direction !
Funny game I like the title too, it does what it sets out to do
anyway, the game has a vibe, the fish look like those in the cartoon "Finding Nemo"
Nice first entry!
Regarding the controls :
- the stopping is a bit too jarring compared to the smooth acceleration.
- The submarine is not really responsive as every increase in speed is slow compare to the actual current direction. Maybe having a weight average between (Current Direction Speed, New Direction Speed Increased) would help rather than just increasing in the direction of the sub.
I have created badges for the readme that you can use:
