Abyss Longing by Enryu Mirik

[raw]
made by Enryu Mirik for Ludum Dare 57 (COMPO)

You are going on your last journey. Into the abyss. You can't go back, but you can't go down too fast either, or the abyss will swallow you up. You are an experienced adventurer and know how to navigate such places. You have many tools at your disposal, but will you be able to reach the end?

You must descend gradually, too fast a descent will return you to the beginning of the level

The bar at the bottom shows how much more you can descend

The dash feels too aggressive and hard to control for me. I like the wall running, level design, and atmosphere.

Not a bad game, but has a bunch of frustrating bugs. But if polished, would be a better project!

It feels really unfair to be punished for moving down too fast in a game that's all about movement. The movement mechanics should encourage fluid gameplay. Good job for making the game, has a lot of potential.

The game has potential and presents an idea I always wanted to see more represented, just pure, physical exploration of a gigantic structure ; unfortunately the controls and items are frustrating to use.
You still did very well the atmosphere and the level design shows there were a lot of thinking. Nice concept that could probably work better with more time.

Great gameplay variability and length, I liked how many options of traversal I had, maybe having some more challenging sections would be good. Only critical addon would be art-style, just having few more texture would make it more interesting and add more context.

I stared into the abyss, did not blink, and now I want more! Amazing game. Thank you for making this. I loved the ability to dash. I didn't use the other abilities, but I think the levels didn't call for it.

Cool game. Maybe someday we can make iddle gameplay parkour video, like minecraft 10h parkour with this game. Web build now works on itch.io, not on ldjam.com. I had same problem with unity web build, and I fix it with manual zip archive compress, where index.html and build folder in root of zip folder.

Здорово, но с управлением так и не смог разобраться. ![Без имени-1.jpg](///raw/20d/36/z/6b445.jpg)

Very complicated and unclear controls. To be honest, I still don't understand why it often returns me back, although I didn't touch obstacles. The idea with hooks is not bad, but the implementation is not the best.

Yes, this is the main problem, you return to the beginning of the level If you go down too fast

But to make it feel normal, it was necessary to make normal indicators and directly tell the player about this mechanic, which I did not have time to do

well, and in general, a normaд tutorial on how to control the game would be nice...

Reminds me of "A story about my ancle", interesting parkour mechanics and vibes

Strange game for me — for some reason, the camera keeps flickering. I couldn’t quite figure out how the skill on **F** works either. Managed to reach the end, but I honestly didn’t fully understand what was going on.

What a cool liminal space to explore! Love the game! You crafted a great movement controller and it felt really tight to control. I really had to restrain myself trying to "style" through the levels. I had to watch my every step and choose platforms deliberately. Great game!

Beat it first try.

It wasn't that polished, sort of buggy control, failed many times to reach the end, but the vive dude, the vibe is standing out, thrilling a bit and definatly engages me to explore deeper and deeper, reminds me of darksouls

Very sensitive controls and has the same issue I think my game has of being too punishing on the falling :D But a lovely mood and audio here, nicely done.

As did not try but could not activate the second ability, but otherwise a great game!
