Sorry I don't understand.

I ran the "game" with https://nicolas-siplis.com/ironboy/

I see a pointer and I can move it around. If I press start I see some boxes of characters. But I can't figure out anything beyond that.

You've arrived at my debug scene. The Start button is never used in the main game. That's why I added to it the script to access my debug scene, and then forgot about it. Thanks for your feedback, I've removed the keyboard shortcut.

For the game, you have to press A (on the Game Boy) or J (on the keyboard) with the pointer where the dog leaves the screen to continue.

It doesn't seem to be working for me.
I get the little intro with the fox crossing the screen, then I get a cursor,
but no keys seem to respond except for movement.

[edit]
Oh okay, that worked, great!
I didn't realize you had to click where the dog is going.

@clement-chassot . Action button is "J" or "SPACE". You need to press it where the dog left the screen to continue the game. (the other buttons are explained under the game on the ichio page.)

Cool Gameboy art and sound. I could feed the dog, then after planting the next seeds didn't know what to do.

Cute game! It took me a while to figure out the star-shaped tool is the "care" action and you can spam that on the plants to make them grow. My poor dog became a snack, though, because I am not a very good gardener.

Such a nice little project and poor little dog! I wish I had a GameBoy to play it! Found two endings, the bad one was my first! It took me some time to get everything right! Had some bugs, but it was fun still! Some of my founds:
- sprites are lagging when you select multiple items in inventory
- feed icon is not displayed when the creature is grown
- unlimited levelup without the need to feed the creature after some levels
- dialogue is sometimes shown out of bounds at the top of the screen

Wish you good luck and I think more people should play and rate your game! I will be glad to play it again and hope for the release!

Love the atmosphere and also the presentation on the itch.io page. A gameboy game for an LD entry is crazyy :) Well done

Nice game !
I enjoyed playing it, but I am not a very good gardener ;-)
Somehow I could never destroy the stump, therefore I couldn't plant bigger plants. I clicked perhaps 1000 times with level 3 tool ? I did a run extra to try that out.

Nice game, I like the sounds and visuals. I didn't manage to unlock the largest plot even with tool level 3. It is hard to tell if clicking the tree stump has any effect or if it is just bugged or if I just didn't have enough patience :) I am not sure what some icons and numbers in the inventory mean. Oh and I didn't save the dog :(

@madelinef Thanks a lot for all your efforts! You were so close ! The stump is destroyed after 1111 clicks if you use level 3 tool (without is even more)! I realize now that is maybe impossible to achieve it in the current state so i made a post jam version that refill your time at one point in the game.

And since we are talking numbers, the hunger is filled after giving 444 food (which is possible (even in the jam version) without level 3 vegetables. Difficult, but possible).

And Thanks again for taking the time to play my game :)

It looks cool. I also like the sounds. I had the same issues with the game play as mentioned by others before. Maybe a progress indication on the tree stump would be nice (like getting more and more destroyed). Anyways, I think I need a game boy cartridge writer now :P

Very beautiful cute graphics, wonderful dog. At first I didn't understand how to play, it would be great to have some tips. Special like for the version for gameboy. Thanks for the unusual game!
