Meet Bob, the Big Boom

IMG_0043.gif Every day is the bomb when he's around! But, he knows his time is coming to an end and he wants your help to go out with a bang . Harvest BOMBPOWDER from the caves and keep Big Boom Bob full so he doesn't explode prematurely. Only a booml level 4 explosion would befit him.

IMG_0027.gif And then there's you. Bob's greatest friend and ally. Protect his honour, harvest the bombpowder, get cool upgrades and blow up anyone (or anything) in your way!

Amazing art style!

What inspired you to design the game in the way you did?

Hey, cool game! As an improvement point for the future, I’d suggest adding a bit more polish to the UI. Also, sometimes the items drop below the chest location, which is very frustrating. Some actions aren’t very intuitive either — maybe some more tutorials would help. But overall, I had a good time with the game.

This game gave me a very cool journey with a very thoughtful level design and mechanics. The game is very addictive and it's hard to break away from it. Good job!

For some reason, the bombs were mostly thrown over the left shoulder. All in all, turned out to be a pretty funny Bomberman 😄

Quite ambitious! So much there~ The movement was a bit funky at times, but overall a really solid game-play experience with well drawn graphics. The only weak-side was the UI as previously mentioned, but jolly good work on it overall!

Great work on this one, the art is truly fantastic. I also appreciate the functioning upgrade system, those can be tricky! I eventually died because I didn't have enough food to feed mr bomb :( so sad, I never meant to starve him to death.... how will I live with myself now?

Awesome art style and animation! The gameplay loop was pretty fun, I wish I had some active way to fight against the monsters besides waiting for a bomb to blow up on them. Aside from that, great entry!

The game is so fun! It's really hard to put down, I really love the rubberhose style of animation and design. I think there's a lot of ways this game could grow. Maybe more enemies to defend against, more ways to defend, trickier and trickier situations. Lots of potential! Amazing job!

Charming character sprites and a strangely addicting gameplay loop. With some polish and additional content, there's already a fun little game here. Nice work pulling this together!

Kaboom!

I'll be honest, when I started playing, I wasn't super impressed. But I'm glad I played all the way through because it kept getting better. The dynamic music was a great touch and once I realize it was an upgrade _tree_ not just 3 things to put points into, the gameplay loop really clicked. I see the "invincibility" option and I'm wondering "huh, why would I want that?" then "oh that's why :smiling_imp::radioactive:". The graphics were fun and I'm impressed with how many unique types of enemies you got around to making. Honestly, most of the game was pretty great, my only real gripe is that it felt like the different elements lacked cohesion. Ex: the gameplay was cave/mining/exploration, the graphics were retro cartoon, and the music didn't really match the style of either of those two. Which, honestly for a jam, if that's the biggest issue then you're doing just fine lol. It just would have been the icing on the cake if they all clicked together. Anyways, really good job here!

This was really fun! My only note is that when I use one bomb type (like sticky on 2, and impact on 3) and I run out, the key press changes even if the indicator doesn't. Other than that one issue, this game was great. I love the style.

I like the game and the details, e. g. the different power ups! Unfortunately I couldn't see the whole window of the two below, perhaps the detailed view can be moved upwards? You created a fun game, thanks!

I played this game for way more time than I wanted to. I think I just developed a passion for bat-hunting with bombs. :D

This game is incredible. It has a few flaws, but all of them are forgiven by the huge scope of your project. All the grapling, bombs, feeding, AI mechanics are so polished, it feels very nice, and losing only makes me want to start another game.

The visuals are nice (the enemies are especially well-drawned) and animations are perfect, and the music fits the game pretty well.

Great game!

Very cool! Lots of nice features here, bomb-toss, destructible terrain, grapple, tricky enemy combat, and the whole upgrades-and-timer game loop. Art and sound really brought it all together, too.

I was not able to read most of the text because I happened to be playing on a television across the room, so it was hard to engage with the tech tree. But I could kind of guess what stuff probably meant. And other than that, I saw some text go by to kind of tutorialize me, but the game was very self-discoverable without needing to read it.

Actually after I lost, I went back for another round and played even longer all over again. Nice addictive quality! It's very interesting how much more powerful you are when you are on the rope vs off of it. But you want to get off to grab things. This dynamic creates a cool risk/reward tradeoff.

Nicely done!
