It's That Deep by jazzydingo

[raw]
made by jazzydingo for Ludum Dare 57 (JAM)

A bottomless bucket shows up at your door one day, and you are now its hostage. The bucket is never satisfied. The bucket demands to be fed. You don't want to find out what happens if it's not.

A creepy word puzzle game inspired by the rules of the talking game "I'm Going On a Picnic," created by jazzydingo and agorkovoy. Music and sounds by agorkovoy.

Find the patterns in the words/letters! Good luck :)

Best played in full screen :)

Really nice writing considering its such a minimalist game. Maximum impact with minimum scope - love it!

Seems like it's working for other people, but the web version gets stuck loading at 100% for me, can somebody ping me if they have the same problem and figure out how to fix it? This seems like a fun game and I'd like to play it

I can't say I managed to follow the logic on the puzzles, passed the first one with just brute force.

I like the concept of a word puzzle game - I just had a hard time figuring out the connection between the clues lol

I wasn't too sure what to feed him and wound up just brute forcing. Mood was overall well executed - in particular the ambience / sound effects! Idea of a bucket holding you hostage was super random, yet in my opinion it wound up working incredibly well - random ideas are always the best ones.

MMMMH DIET COKE. But yeah I don't know how to solve these except trial and error, but it's enough to just do trial and error for some reason, it's very entertaining lol gj.

Not sure how to solve the puzzles luckily there is a thing called brute force, very fun but I'm confused with the puzzles and great audio!

This was extremely confusing and I still don't know what I did or didn't do. Looks and plays alright though, whatever it's supposed to be.

Also a brute forcer, but enjoyed the absurdity of the bucket and figuring out I can brute force "better" by rapidly putting more stuff in after a "wrong" answer. (Ending was a "little" confusing. Without spoiling, wasn't sure what the bucket was referencing).

After two confused playthroughs and looking up what “I’m Going On a Picnic” was, I think I understood the concept (the first rule was about the last letter, right?) - but since there's not that much objects to choose from it's easier to brute force than think about it. An example of a puzzle + solution would have helped. Nice sound design and mood!

The audio is really good, i like the idea of a word puzzle game but i'm not sure i understood everything, it was hard for me to get it, i just bruteforce the first level. But hey i'm just bad at these hahaha, well done for this game !

Bruteforced the first two rounds, understood the concept and rules for the last two, went back to understand the rule of the first round, still no idea for the second one. Very simple and efficient

@reuh thanks for the feedback! and for anyone that didnt get it lol (sorry :)) the first is about the last letter, the second is about a missing letter/sound, the third is containing a letter, and last is the repeated letter.

I didn't get it and bruteforced it =)
I wander if objects are put on the second screen to dissuade me from brutforcing
