Wishing Evil by andruid
Be careful ~~what~~ where you wish for something.
In this whack-a-mole-like you toss a coin into this abandoned and suspicious well waking a horde of evil spirits. Shoot them with your gun to banish them and try to save your life.
Kills regen HP. The higher the score, the faster spirits spawn.
Controls: Aim with the mouse and shoot with L/R mouse button.

The team decided to try the compo this time. This is my first try doing it all in 48h.
First day I was totally lost and almost gave up but I managed to make something in time. :smile: I hope you have some fun!
P.S.: Thanks to the feedback given by many of you, specially @cammin, I was able to sort some of the bugs you guys mentioned: enemies weren't being shrunk back to initial size and spawn point weren't returning to the pool.
Since the fixes I implemented were for things that were breaking the game, I followed a suggestion by @henk and left it as the only version.
I hope this is ok and you actually have more fun with it!

Shooting is no longer fully automatic. But ok... You can use Konami code on the menu screen if you still want to cheese the game :P
Enemies now don't stop spawning in some areas.
Now there's a half second invulnerability window when the player is hit. The HP bar will flash when this happens.

- Cursor now properly shows on menu screens.
15th Apr, 2025
Changed the fullscreen red to a human tolerable subtler red glow around the screen.
Fixed a minor bug in the difficulty increase which was causing some spirits to stick onto the screen at their maximum size.

@busisen nice catch! I guess I should've trigger shots on button release. I don't know what's going on with the spawning stop tho (or bottom right spawning preference for that matter). Consider yourself winning the game. 😂
congrats for your success of having finished this compo on time. Just we (your friends) know how time/life was not in favor of you. The game and art work is great. Authough it is very haaaaaaaaaard! The ghosts appearance is getting too fast... hahahaha
I wasn't expecting a aiming game, so I only managed to banish 87 with my office mouse, which is not that bad :laughing:
The art is nice and the gameplay is intense, so well done !

Since it's a mouse precision game, having a build that can have a high framerate would be extra helpful here; I think the game only ran at 30 fps.
After I took a bunch of damage during the high between 50~150 points, I only had to balance about 4 enemies at a time. After I got my score to 420, then I let them get me. But once an enemy escapes, it never approaches again, so I got softlocked. But at least it ends at a nice number, haha.
I won't update the submission 'cause it would be unfair but will do it to the icth version by the end of the jam.

You might already know this, but in case you didn't: the rules explicitly allow
you to fix game-breaking bugs after the deadline as long as you document the fix.

Simple but fun gameplay :)
Unfortunatly i encounter a bug because music stop playing but no death screen and bullet can still be shooted! (Sadly i was making my best score :/)
