In the Inferno by Talia

[raw]
made by Talia for Ludum Dare 57 (COMPO)

An auto-runner game inspired by Dante's Inferno - the metaphorical journey into the depths of the earth to face fears and demons.

Although there are nine levels in Dante, there are only 3 short levels here. More was not possible in terms of time. But enjoy it! Other ideas to add: all levels of hell, more variations of enemies and a small final boss with bullet hell elements at the end of each stage. And the final boss Satan in the earth's core.

Nice game. The character goes super fast ^^ and I like the color of the ‘gods’ to kill.

Found it a little challenging but enjoyable. A downside to the character being so quick is it's hard to admire the art.

I got stuck on the ceiling when the path splits, but then found out you fall when the game is paused. Experimenting I found you can jump and shoot while paused as well.

Thanks for combining the two things that have brought mankind endless consternation; Dante Alighieri and the google dinosaur running game lol. For real though, tight game, looks great. Difficult enough that progress feels rewarding. Excellent work!

The camera is a bit too tight for the speed you're going, but its responsive and the art is nice.

Pretty fun, although it is a bit too difficult for me to complete. There doesn't seem to be much point to the enemies as you can just spam click and kill them offscreen. Maybe if the enemies had a weak point that you needed to aim for. Though that would make the game even harder :).

I like how the bow makes a sound that fits the rhythm of the music

The art is nice, though I found it starts a little too hard/fast for me. Would be nice if the deadly obstacles had more contrast than just the outline, especially given the sort reaction time. i like the terrain generation, very dynamic

The art is amazing. Difficulty is a bit high for me as well. My only criticism is sometimes it is hard for me to tell what objects are destroyable/needs to be jumped over/just background. I know you have a red outline but it can be hard to see when moving fast. Overall I had fun!

The art and gameplay are great. I do think zooming the camera out a bit would make it a bit easier to react to what's coming up ahead. With the way it is you really just end um memorizing where to jump rather than reacting to what you see. Other than that though, nice job making a fun game that I actually took the time to beat lol

This is a nice little game, happy that the levels are short because you need to learn them by heart if you want to finish em hahaha. It's fast paced and fun, good job =)

Fun game :) In my opinion the character moves a little too fast for the camera zoom. It makes it hard to react to the next obstacle, making the game more about memorizing the layout of level. Nevertheless it was a fun experience

Cool game concept! But I personally found it hard to tell what obstacle was coming next and where I’d land after jumping, so zooming the camera out a bit might help with that

Also, I’d suggest an ammo system to prevent attack spamming. For example, the player could have 3–5 arrows that slowly recharge over time (like one arrow per second). That would add more tension and introduce a bit of resource management to the combat

I had a good time playing it, but I agree with some of the other feedback here. The zoom and speed makes it really, really difficult to tell what's coming and react. Level 2 was extremely difficult and unforgiving right off the bat. Overall, it's fun and I enjoyed myself.

The stage of greed is very difficult. I was never able to pass it. But it's not a bad idea.
