Godless Furnishings by Daniel Alhadeff

[raw]
made by Daniel Alhadeff for Ludum Dare 57 (COMPO)

Hell is overflowing, with furniture...

All Furniture, physically incapable of believing in god, is sent directly to hell.

Can you escape the Depths of Hell by building a spire of discarded furniture?

Animation2.gif

Features:

  • Physicalized Leaderboard - see other's furniture towers and compete to build the tallest.
  • Cloud Save System - save your tower and continue building it later.
  • Industry Leading Furniture Tower Physics Simulation - are there any others?

System Requirements:

  • Dedicated GPU
  • Internet connection
  • Mouse with a scroll wheel recommended
  • A CPU

Also…

I’m making a real game, (not about escaping Hell using furniture)! If you’re into roguelike deckbuilding and geometry shenanigans, check out Moonsigil Atlas on Steam.

Very cool game, the best I've seen on LD 57, and I'm not likely to see anything else because I need to build a tower.

Thanks! I'll check out both of your games, and your furniture towers!

The way furniture falls is hella good, this idea of doing towers may have a potential

Thanks @k1n! I may have spent way too long fixing bugs in the collapse algorithm lol.

I'll check out the card game you submitted later tonight!

Epic game, raising so many questions, why we live in hell, why we have urge to build tower higher than neighbours, can we escape the tube building a ladder, who makes furniture, who ate my banana.

Very impressive technical feat going for all the things I’d personally shy away from, especially during a jam: WebGPU, 3D physics, cloud saves, highscores… Once I got the hang of it, it was surprisingly surreal and almost cozy. 😅 You already know it, still, for reference, here’s my playthrough of it again: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NR7fySdOzeA

I'm very fond of how the variously shaped furniture does force you to think about foundations and moving upwards. Luckily its pretty forgiving though. Also got to heavily compliment the amount of art you managed to achieve in this short time.

Even though I am really bad at physics-games, i really enjoyed your entree!
The graphics were nice and the implementation of the theme was really creative.
If we wouldn´t compete with ludum dares time constraint, you could argue that the music loop was a little bit short and noticeable, but you never have enough time!

Overall, I really did enjoyed your game and played it longer than anticipated!

I've not seen nothing like this on LD57. Interesting realization of highscoring here. Gud job!

You absolutely cooked :fire:

Hopefully what I baked will make you happy, because I've fried my GPU making this nearly Sofa-only devilish work of art :smiling_imp:

I love the absurd premise, and it's pretty awesome to see all of these furniture towers climbing into the sky. I also really like how the variety of furniture types allows a lot of creativity in how people design their towers. The furniture placement controls took a little time to get used to, but that was partly just due to my computer being slow. The Dies irae style music and the smoky sky really set the scene so you can never forget where you are trying to escape from. Great work!
