Depths Of Terror by Dan Davis
The year is 2589, and a huge power surge is detected from deep in the earth’s oceans. You’ve been sent to scout the source, only to find that a race of technologically advanced, super intelligent sea cucumbers has begun assembling their assault force to invade the surface world! There’s no time! You must defeat them at all costs.
Your job is to infiltrate the deep sea to weed out the numerous monsters that dwell beneath. Keep an eye out for power-ups along the way to help you on your journey. Good luck!!

To address that, you could randomize the pitch of the bullet sound each time it plays, something like +/- 10%. If you wanted to take that a step further, you could have 3-4 different bullet sounds and pick one at random each time a bullet is spawned. Combining the random sounds with the randomized pitch would have a massive impact.
Either way, great work on this one!
I love @floppynub's idea for the sounds, but to be honest it didn't really bother me at all.
I really loved the ticker at the top of the screen, thought that was so cool.
Also I love the little screen on top, it really adds to the arcade feel, reminds me of pinball, its a lovely touch.
Diagonal movement with the arrow keys seems to be broken.
I didn't actually notice the rocket counter at the bottom for a long time.
I stopped after racking up 31380 points as the level didn't seem to be changing any more. I'm guessing the final stage just loops.
