Thallas by HDVR02

Overview
Thallas is a game about survival at the bottom of the ocean, inhabited by dangerous sea creatures, where time is not on your side.
You are in control of an ancient trilobite submarine. Your goal is to survive as long as possible by opening containers on the ocean floor and avoiding danger in the form of local inhabitants. Run, sneak, explore - and maybe you'll see something mankind has never seen before.

HOW TO PLAY:
Your task is to survive in the depths of the ocean, to which you were sent by scavengers in search of valuable items that can be contained in cargo containers. No one suspected what horrors lurk in this black abyss....
There is no ending in the game, as well as valuable items. Unfortunately we didn't have enough time to do everything we had in mind as this is our first participation in this jam. Listen to the sounds of the ship to figure out what resources to use
WARNING!!!!
Elements on the ship's UI are clickable. They are not hazard lights, but buttons for player interaction with the ship. Items in the inventory are not clickable by themselves, they are used in the ship
WARNING!!!!
Controls:
WASD - walking
Mouse - flashlight control
E - interact with objects
R - change oxygen tank (for the character).

Thanks a lot!
Some mechanics aren't working correctly right now, so the character doesn't die now, and containers may open but not give items (you probably have less than 2 free slots on the hotbar).
We will fix the bugs in the coming hours!
Also there is no balance right now, we finalized the mechanics in the last minutes of publishing. I hope you will appreciate other aspects of the game!
WOW, really blew me away when I hit full screen haha, explains the long load time.
Really liked the vibe it had!
1. character immortality caused by missing death screen
2. lack of indication on repair buttons caused by incorrect layer grouping
3. pushing by enemies caused by incorrect collider
4. Infinite oxygen problem, due to missing variable
5. No loot in containers if player doesn't have enough inventory slots
6. Too small ship menu
7. Sound problems related to loop in sound effects
missing sounds for some items and buttons
Thanks for playing our game and leaving your feedback! <3
Nevertheless, Thanks a lot feedback! We are very happy that you enjoyed our game!
Also running up against the mechanics. Oxygen worked well enough but eventually my inventory filled up with a REPAIR item and one other thing I couldn't identify. After a while, a repeating warning noise started playing and I wasn't sure what it meant - it played for a while before killing me though. Eventually my screen went red and I died but I still had oxygen and wasn't sure what killed me.
Sadly, you're as good as dead once an enemy spots you. In my experience, they continue chasing you even after you get into the submarine. It seems like you're expected to distance yourself from the creatures by a great deal, which wouldn't be an issue, if the aforementioned submarine's movement didn't have a tendency to break down, robbing you of your only way out of the situation.
Other than that, all I can say is, I wish that Thallas could have gotten some more features! It would have been nice to see some sort of goal to work towards, even if it was to be completely arbitrary due to time constraints.
On my second try, I learned to hide inside the boat, but whenever the fish approached, it would bug out and clip into the boat. Once it was stuck like that, I’d die as soon as I stepped outside. Despite that, the overall experience was still really interesting.
On my third try, I finally realized I was supposed to go right, not left. Going right triggered the parts of the boat that were missing a medkit or oxygen, and I found supplies like those on the right side. Using the flashlight to search for items and then using them to repair the boat made the gameplay feel much more complete.
Later, I ran into the giant fish again — it got stuck in my boat and wouldn’t leave. Just as I reached what looked like an important control panel and was about to grab something, I stepped out and died.
Still, the experience was a lot of fun, and the art was truly fantastic. Keep up the great work!
- Swim up off the screen assuming there might be more stuff "up". Camera tries to follow me, starts moving up with me. I swim back down, camera doesn't come all the way down, I can't see myself, so I refresh the page.
- Swimming along, find some oxygen tanks and repair kits. Oh, cool, a fish thing. OW, he bit me... OW! "YOU DEAD"
- Swimming some more, avoid the cool looking fish thing. Can't figure out what else to do. Get eaten by an even BIGGER fish thing. :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:
I liked the graphics and sound, and I see from the comments that it looks like you didn't get to finish the ending, so that explains why I didn't know what else to do. Good job on what you got so far!
