Down Under by TheLastSlowpoke

Silly little kangaroo game!
At most two minutes of playtime, just give it a go!

Dev thoughts (thelastslowpoke):
I loved working non-solo, it was exciting to try and I'm happy it worked out! After commiting to the game idea, we realized that sub-par programmer art ain't gonna cut it this time. So I called a friend that would be a perfect match for this. Adaś was excited to quickly put something together for us!
And yeah, this is my fourth dared ludum in a row in which the audio department is overlooked. There is definitely a need to prioritize it more, maybe we should do a musical next time to balance it out? ^^

The rope arm feels good

At the beginning, I was a little bit worried whether I could go through the hand that's already in place, but thankfully wasn't a problem. Bringing them back was very amusing to watch, and in general, this was amusing all the way. Perfect jam entry - easy to pick up, not too long, very funny, love it!
I understand the struggle with music and sounds, maybe musical is really a way to go!
Got him!
Very fun game, but lacks music. I wanted to give (reluctantly) one star for the music already, but the music vote was disabled.
Such a bad deed I compensated with five stars for the other categories. Great job!
Thanks for your praise and feedback!!!
We had a debate about controls, and we decided that we prefer the backwards-when-going-down controls, because they feel very natural when going sideways and upwards. The other way around would feel nice in long vertical corridors, but would be completely confusing in the other directions and overall would subjectively feel worse. We conjectured that most gamer brains would quickly snap into understanding of the first option, around the first few curves. We didn't find any options with smaller drawbacks, and accepted that it will feel weird at the beginning for most, and maybe for the whole game for some.
Thanks!!!
It was actually my fourth jam, the "first time" is about me working in a team (the previous ones were solo). Wallted was jamming for the first time though. I guess the description can be a bit unclear. See you in half a year hahah!
This is the perfect sort of game to introduce a level structure to, if you ever consider taking it further. I think it's something worth exploring! Perhaps adding some obstacles in the form of sharp, misplaced trinkets lost in mamma's pouch could help introduce some stakes?
Ideas aside, congrats to the team! I hope you had a lot of fun working on your first joint entry, and I'm keen to see what the next jam's got in store for the lot of you, granted you plan on giving making things together another go. Cheers!
sharp-misplaced-trinkets-lost-in-mammas-pouch was exactly the vibe we were going with at the start, but scoping the project did it's thing :) despite, this project still bestowed a lot of laughs and fun upon us. glad you too in some way experienced this through the game!
EASY 5/5 Fun, Theme and Humor!!!
You could easily extend it a little, add more stakes, like obstacles/life system/objectives/etc, I would love to try a post-jam version!
But I also really love that the game is just a short 2 minutes straigthforward story!
