Welcome, carbon-based lifeform! Ready to be evaluated?

In "Deep Sleeve", you play as someone who has just been abducted by a pair of aliens and taken to deep space. Their objective? Evaluate your species' intelligence, through you. Their method? A card game. There's no way you can win. Not unless you cheat. Luckily, the aliens are easily distracted, and your sleeves are deep...

Rules

The goal of the game is to survive a round. A game lasts until someone loses all their "HP", which are the little tokens on the table before you. You begin with 20 tokens.

Rounds are a fight between two cards. Players play one after another, selecting a card amongst those in their hand. You win a round by playing a lower card than what your opponent plays. The winner will play first in the next round.

Losing a round makes you lose tokens equal to the difference between the two cards that were played (the one you played, and the one your opponent played.)

There are seven kinds of cards in the deck : -2, 0, 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5. cardsss.png

1 through 5 are self-explanatory, but -2 (two diagonals) and the 0 (diamond) have special rules. Playing a 0 allows you to "lose" a round but not take any damage (unless your opponent plays a -2). The -2 card is the only card that can inflict damage through a 0 card, and will win against every card except the 5, which makes you lose 5 points.

That is a loooooong wiggly arm! I would play a game centered around that arm, alone!

The idea and the animations are funny. I liked how you must remember where you stored your cards in the sleeve. Oh yea, you can also poke his eye

@qui Thank you for playing! We kinda struggled with the 2D/3D interactions, so the gameplay and cheating options are sadly very limited compared to what we initially scoped.

Congrats for finding the poking interaction, you are definitely a good observer

Yesss another long stretchy arm game!!! Love this interpretation of the theme! At one point I wasnt really sure how the distraction was going to help me anymore, since there were no more cards for me to draw. Could maybe be cool if you could steal their cards, or maybe swap them around?

Awesome concept though!

Would be nice if the card game rules were explained in-game, or there was a reference there. Really good art and a creative take on the theme.

I liked the game but it was perhaps too simple. The main gimmick with sleeve drawing just didn't work, or I couldn't manage to take out a single card. It was hard for me to understand that I had to press the speech text to proceed, and I didn't realize the meaning of the "0" card until the very end. Still defeated the blue alien though, enjoyed it.

How much fun you had developing this arm ? :D

I like the arts and gameplay, I loosed several turn to struggle with the score system but anyway at the end it was pretty simple. I was never caught cheating by the aliens despite cheating in front of them, is the mechanic not implemented ? I didin't understand what is the added value of hiding card in my sleeves ? I feel like it allows for more card drawn, isn't it ?

Final question: If the human succeeds, are the humans some kind of interstellar high IQ or are just the aliens dumb ^^' ?
