Sporg's Mishap by bitdecaygames

[raw]
made by bitdecaygames for LD36 (JAM)
A long time ago...

A lowly space explorer, has located a unique source of power on a nearby planet. Unfortunately our traveler has an untimely mishap with an asteroid, leaving him stranded in a foreign land to pick up the pieces. Literally....

To make matters worse, centuries of space travel make one unaccustomed to gravity. And someone has been slacking on their space squats.
Jumping will not be possible, but technology has its advantages.

The native species in their ancient and primitive ways appear un-accepting of your presence.
Were the instruments wrong? How could such a reading come from a planet with seemly non-advanced creatures.

------------------

WASD/Arrows - movement
SPACE - shoot
Down Arrow/W/B - Pickup & Drop/Throw

SPACE - skip cutscenes, but why would you want to?

------------------

Want to run at a higher/lower resolution?
run the game from command line with one of three arguments: high, medium (default), and small to get the different resolutions. Like this:

# for high resolution
java -jar LudumDare36-1.2.jar high

# for low resolution
java -jar LudumDare36-1.2.jar small

------------------

EDIT:
Uploaded version 1.1 that fixes a small bug surrounding picking up items

Uploaded version 1.2 that adds WASD and Arrow key control schemes

Aha, nice! We have a little green man in our game too! I love the look of this. The music is very chill

haha love the game, animation and music well done, I do like that the controls are easy and not overly complicated like other games, and I see that you took planet of the apes idea and changed it up and making it your own.

Cool game. Great art and controls. Enemies jump a little too fast for my taste though. Played it to the end and it was fun.
Good Job! Congratulations!

Hey, I had fun exploring the planet!
Fighting was hard for me because of fast moving enemies (plus my poor reflexes). I couldn't figure out how to throw the ship-parts further. Quite the complete game, congrats!

The game was really fun to play. Great graphics and sounds, the hole game has a good feeling. I think that it's quite hard sometimes, especially when those monkeys jumping around, so i tried to just fly away. :) Maybe you should consider adding difficulty levels once..
Anyway, I had a really good time, playing this game! Good work!

Very nicely made game! I included it in my compilation video series of Ludum Dare 36, if you’d like to take a look :) https://youtu.be/66O503w0cEI
