Instructions

Use the tools to dig and places ladders.

Scroll with mouse wheel or up/down arrow keys.

More ladders are created over time. Be careful not to get the wamps stuck in a deep hole.

Dig up worms to eat apples and seek revenge!

You win when you destroy 100 apples.

Gameplay

This game was inspired by Maginot or Womps Hate Water from LD56. You should go play it. It's awesome! Thanks vfqd! I played through that game like 20 times with my kids!

About the game

I worked on this game with my 2 kids (9 and 11). They did a lot of the art and design. The crunching sound is my kid eating an actual apple.

The music was composed by Suno. I wish I could write music as good as the AIs.

I used a custom game engine I’ve been tinkering with for the last few years. It’s C++ with emscripten for the web build.

I love the Extra format! It’s the only way I can make a game with everything in my life. I put in more hours this time than I normally do. This game was bigger than I intended to make, but it's fun to make games! For this LD, I put in about 40 hours.

Thanks for playing!

This was such a wonderful game! Really loved the intro comic, I felt very invested in my wamps! NO APPLES ALLOWED >:(. Enjoyed making the simple decisions about how I wanted to upgrade, focusing more on digging, worms, or passive boosts. So glad there was a keep playing button, because my only wish was that it was longer!

fantastic game, the only thing i'd change for a fully fledged game (besides length obviously) would be the upgrade mechanic, a little messy.

A nice little management game, it took me about 314 seconds the first time when I was learning the game, then 142 seconds the second time around. I do wish there was something antagonistic to play against, I didn't see anything that provided setbacks. The option to keep playing is nice, and while things get overpowered with the upgrades real quick, I ran out of upgrades as I hit the level cap and I realized I should've used those upgrades to summon a lot more worms as there were still 868 apples left.

The art is cute; simple but effective. The music was probably too dramatic for the gameplay, but it still set a tone. Nice work!

Absolutely LOVED the intro :joy: pure gold
Liked the epic music that reminded you that this was not just a game for the wamps
Very cool gameplay, the first time around I was wondering if it was too easy, but then trying to beat the game as fast as possible ends up being quite a challenge! My lowest time was around 220s and I still felt like I made some lame choices lol.
Thanks a lot!!

Guess these wamps will never figure out how gravity works. Loved the hilarious intro and story! Also very fun game. Wished it was a bit easier to notice when you can choose a new update and maybe some buildings could be a bit better explained, but it was cool to notice all of the sudden that there is a housing mechanic! Also complement to your kids for the art, looks very charming!

This was really fun! I pushed the button to keep playing after the first tree was defeated, eventually all the buttons disappeared, I might have had too many wamps.

Lovely that the kids are a big part of this game!
This game reminds me of Lemmings in so many good ways! Great work! :D

Very fun game! I had to scramble my last worms but they could not eat the last apples. Definitely a well thought-of strategy game! Nice that your kids are involved in game dev the process!

I love how you can use the good-old Minecraft alpha ladder technique, placing a ladder only every second block.

Really cool game! I enjoyed it a lot and played through a few apple trees until I mined away literally the entire map. The upgrade system makes it very satisfying (although I didn't find it first, maybe some better visual indication could help).
Some small issue: Later in the game, the upgrade menu started to disappear and the text on the top-right box flickered.

Excellent work, albeit tooltips on the building buttons would have gone a long way.

Really fun game I am definitely coming back to play again, but it really needs a better explanation as to what each object does. I know they have a bit of an explanation under the upgrade, but I still found myself really confused for a bit and it would have been nice to read more an explanation of how the game works in the description.

Great cute and funny game, I really liked it. Great idea and plot. Funny worms and their animation. Unfortunately, I did not have sound in the built-in version. I recommend uploading the game to itch.io, and also replacing the picture with a piece of a screenshot from the game. Thank you and your children for this game!
