Planet Licker by ohsqueezy
Lick the planets!
This game was made to be played with your tongue. Lick colored popsicles in real life to move the monster and lick planets on screen. We designed a custom controller (see the last pic) specifically for playing with your tongue! It's made of molded ice sculpture planets in various flavors and a 3-D printed base.
The game also works for keyboard! If you want an experience similar to the actual ice controller, you could depress your keys with your tongue. Each button press moves you toward the nearest respectively colored planet. Lick a planet four times to eat it completely. Avoid space-mines as you lick your way around the solar system!

I wonder how it would look like playing with the controller. I can also think about some...more japanese like applications for it *cough*
my lack of a lickable controller aside (and the knowledge of where these laptop keys have been) -- the movement mechanic was actually pretty interesting and fun. I had to keep remembering which key would move to which planet, which interestingly got harder the further along I went.
After lickin' some planets, I won! I guess! I mean, I don't know what I did to win, but I did! It might have been better to have a score / timer / combination and have the amount of mines increase the more planets you lick? Maybe? I don't know.
Still, innovation 5/5, would lick planets again
nice gameplay, simple but efficient
Love licking planets... :D
The mechanics is very original!
Downside: I understood that there were mines ... after several levels! Just when I thought the gameplay was lacking constraints ...
Good job, thanks for the game!
Regarding the mines, it's true they aren't very noticeable. We plan to make it so they are placed more strategically, look more hazardous and give more feedback when triggered.
Oh and also I NEED THAT LICKING CONTROLLER.
ps. Great tunes.
pls custom controller w/ flavored planets
We are definitely going to work on making the mines more readable in the future as well.
I couldn't play it as it was "intended" though (one can only hope that lickable controllers become a common thing in the future) but I played it with a keyboard and watched the "gameplay" video so I guess I have a pretty good idea of this game now.
Audio and graphics are incredibly good too, and the game is really well polished.
I guess the objective/win condition/goal is not really THAT clear, so there's some room for improvement there.
It's a REALLY good entry overall, and one of the most creative things I've seen so far. Great job, really! Kudos to the whole team!
